ALL-STAR BREAK

HEY NOW YOU ARE AN ALL-STAR: The Pacific Coast League announced that Tacoma Rainiers infielders Jesus Montero (will not
participate after recall to Seattle) and Ketel Marte, along with right-handed pitcher Forrest Snow will represent the PCL in the First National
Bank Triple-A All-Star Game. The contest will be held at Werner Park in Omaha, Nebraska on Wednesday, July 15 at 7 p.m. CST and will be
televised on MLB Network. Montero and Ketel were selected as starters, while Snow was selected to the team as a reserve. This marks the
second consecutive season that multiple Rainiers players will start for the PCL in the Triple-A All-Star Game. Infielders Chris Taylor, Nick
Franklin, and Gabriel Noriega started for the PCL in 2014 and were joined by right-handed pitcher Logan Kensing.
TRIPLE-A HOME RUN DERBY: Jesus Montero (will not participate after recall to Seattle), Cody Decker and Peter O'Brien of the Pacific
Coast League along with Jesus Aguilar, Dariel Alvarez, Matt Davidson of the International League, have been named the six Triple-A All-Star
representatives to participate in the 2015 Triple-A All-Star Home Run Derby, powered by Omaha Public Power District (OPPD). The Home
Run Derby took place on Monday, July 13 at Werner Park in Omaha, Nebraska.
OF NOTE:

This season the Rainiers have recorded 10 or more hits in 42 games, including 17 in the last 28 gamesthe Rainiers are batting .280
(890x3179) with 470 runs scored, 151 doubles, 30 triples, 86 home runs, 434 RBI and 111 stolen bases in 91 games.
o On the road the Rainiers are batting .291 (508x1746) with 274 runs scored, 95 doubles, 25 triples, 40 home runs, 249 RBI and 66
stolen bases in 48 games on the road, compared to .267 (382x1433) with 196 runs scored, 56 doubles, 5 triples, 46 RBI, 185 RBI and
45 stolen bases in 43 games at Cheney Stadium.

C Steve Baron has hit safely in 9 of his last 10 games, batting .368 (14x38) with 7 runs scored, 3 doubles, 1 home run, 8 RBI, 1 walk and
2 stolen bases.
o Baron is batting .342 (27x79) with 14 runs scored, 4 doubles, 1 home run, 8 RBI, 6 walks and 2 stolen bases in 22 games with

In his last 32 games, since June 8, OF Stefen Romero has recorded 16 multi-hit contests, during this stretch he is batting .349 (45x129)
with 24 runs scored, 17 doubles, 2 triples, 3 home runs, 27 RBI, 3 stolen bases and 7 walks.

OF Justin Ruggiano is batting .309 (17x55) with 9 runs scored, 1 double, 4 home runs, 11 RBI and 7 walks in 16 games with Tacoma.

3B Carlos Rivero has recorded 10 multi-hit contests in his last 25 games, batting .323 (31x96) with 11 runs scored, 5 doubles, 3 home
runs, 12 RBI, 8 walks and 1 stolen base.

o Since May 30, Snow is 6-1 with a 2.18 ER (11 ER, 45.1 IP) in 8 games, 7 starts...during this stretch, he has limited opponents to a
.237 (40x169) average, while walking 18 and striking out 33.

RECAP: The Generals were limited to only 5 hits as Jackson was shutout for the second consecutive game losing 0-2 on Monday night vs.
Birmingham. 2B Tyler Bortnick (3x4, SB) and C Tyler Marlette (2x3, 2B, BB) combined to record all 5 of the Generals hits. Starter Misael
Siverio (5.2,5,2,2,3,5) recorded his 8th loss of the season, allowing only 2 runs on 5 hits over 5.2 innings. LH Paul Fry (2.0,2,0,0,0,3) and RH
Matt Anderson (1.1,1,0,0,0,1) combined to hold the Baron scoreless over the final 3.1 innings in relief.
ROY HOWELL TAKES OVER AS MANAGER: The Seattle Mariners announced that hitting coach Roy Howell would assume managerial
duties for the Jackson Generals for the remainder of the 2015 season beginning June 30. Jim Horner, who had managed Seattles Double-A
affiliate since the beginning of last year, recently accepted an assistant coaching position at Washington State University. It marks the secondconsecutive season that Howell has taken over as manager for a Seattle affiliate. Last March, he replaced Rich Donnelly as the manager at
Triple-A Tacoma after Donnelly was named the Mariners third-base coach in Spring Training. He led the Rainiers to a 74-70 mark, and his 74
victories were tied for the 9th-most by a manager in his first full season. Howell, in his 4th season with the Mariners organization, spent 2012
and 2013 with the High Desert Mavericks in the California League. His managerial resume includes three seasons at short-season Eugene
(2003-05), three seasons with San Luis of the California Collegiate League (2007-10) and one season leading the field staff for the Road
Warriors of the independent Atlantic League (2011). A former first-round selection by Texas in the 1972 draft, Howell logged time in the PCL
as a player with Spokane (1974) and Portland (1985), as well as three seasons as a hitting coach with Portland (2000-02).

Seattle Mariners minor league SS Ketel Marte and RHP Edwin Diaz represented the World team in the 17th annual SiriusXM All-Star Futures
Game to be played today at Great American Ball Park in Cincinnati, as part of All-Star weekend.
Marte, 21, went 2-for-2 with 1 RBI playing second and batting leadoff for the World Team. He was on the disabled list with fractured his left
thumb, June 1-July 9. He injured his thumb on May 31 vs. Round Rock. He appeared in 1 game with the Mariners in the Arizona League on
rehab assignment before being reinstated from the DL and transferred to Jackson for 2 games on July 9. Marte hit safely in 42 of 51 games
with 19 multi-hit contest, batting .343 (68x198) with 30 runs scored, 10 doubles, 1 triple, 2 home runs, 24 RBI, 18 walks and 17 stolen bases
with AAA Tacoma. At the time of his injury (through game on May 31), Marte led the PCL in average (.343/68x198), games (51) and hits (68),
while ranking 2nd in stolen bases (17) and at-bats (198) and 3rd in lowest TPA/SO ratio (11.05). Marte was signed as a non-drafted free agent
on Aug. 13, 2010. Over 5 seasons in the Mariners organization, he is batting .293 (492x1680) with 273 runs scored, 67 doubles, 19 triples, 162
RBI, 105 walks and 97 stolen bases in 430 games.
Diaz, 21, allowed 2 runs on 3 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 1 in 0.2 innings (3rd and 4th innings) for the World squard. He is currently
pitching for AA Jackson in the Southern League. In 17 starts between A Bakersfield and AA Jackson, Diaz is 5-6 with a 3.50 ERA (36 ER, 92.2
IP), including going 3-6 with a 4.69 ERA (30 ER, 55.2 IP) in 10 starts with the Generals. Overall he has limited opponents to a .226 (76x337)
average, while walking 29 and striking out 93 in 92.2 innings. Diaz was the Mariners 3rd round selection in the 2012 MLB First-Year Player
Draft ouf of Caguas Military Acedemy in Puerto Rico. Over his first 4 professional seasons, Diaz is 18-17 with a 3.06 ERA (101 ER, 297.0 IP) in
63 games/53 starts.

Ontario (baseball competition to be held in Ajax), July 10 to 19. The U.S. roster features 24 players not currently on Major League Baseball 40man rosters. The Pan Am Team gathered in Cary, N.C., at the USA Baseball National Training Complex where it will train from July 4 to 8. The
U.S. departed for Toronto for the Pan American Games where it will look to win its first Pan Am gold since 1967. First round action kicks off on
July 11, against Puerto Rico at the Presidents Choice Ajax Pan Am Ballpark. The 2013 World Baseball Classic Team was the latest
professional team fielded by USA Baseball. In the most recent Pan American Games, the 2011 club earned the silver medal with a 3-2 record,
falling to Canada in the gold-medal game.
