Were here to make sports accessible to a billion Indians.

If you think you could passionately share that vision with

us, tell us more about yourself
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THIS PICTURE?

This picture was taken in 2013 when I was in the first year of my college
and we just won the semifinals of the intra college cricket tournament.
This is certainly not the best photograph of mine as a sportsperson but
has great memories attached to it. I was just 6 months old into the
college and was representing our Department of Marketing. The
Marketing department had never proceded beyond the first round of
the tournament. We were not taken seriously by other teams and were
considered just a filler team. But we were motivated to do well that
year and had played superbly to reach the semifinals. We faced the
favorites Department of Operations in the semifinals. We were the first
to bat and I opened the innings. We made a solid start and took
advantage of the powerplay but lost our way in the middle overs. We
ended up with 61 runs in 8 overs, which we felt was not enough as the
opposition had two batsmen from the University team. I knew we had to
get them both cheaply to entertain any thoughts of winning. In my
second over of the match I took two consecutive wickets including one
of the university players. I took two more wickets and bowled a very
tight last over to seal our win.I was awarded the man of the match and
we partied together for that night. That tournament gave me friends
and memories for life. Not to forget that the Department of Marketing

WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE NEXT 10 YEARS (at Decathlon)?

I am still in the learning phase of my career and I see working at Decathlon as an extension of that
learning phase. There is no better way to learn and improve than to be in Sales. I want to get exposure in
this customer facing role, learn the basics of business from the grass-root level and build up from there.
Being in Sales at the start, I would get a chance to apply the skills I have learned during the course and
also build a strong foundation for the future. Further down the line I would like to move into more
strategic roles and drive Companys growth. 10 years from now I see myself as the National
Sales/Marketing Manager at Decathalon India.
Leveraging 10 years of experience in Decathlon and the industry and a strong peer network within the
company who themselves are high performing individuals I want to play an important role in positioning

I am a very emotional person and I tend to easily
empathize with people's emotions and feelings.

put feelings and emotions aside in order to make
the best decision for myself, my team, or my
organization.

YOUR HOBBIES OR PASSION:

I like Traveling and Trekking, Playing Carrom, Cricket and helping my mother in Cooking

WHAT DOES SPORT MEAN TO YOU? (Show us your creative side!)

I feel bad when I see an empty field in the evening. I feel bad when I see a crippled boy on the sidelines
watching a football match. I feel bad when I see a mother scolding her child for playing. I feel bad when
India lose. But at the same time I get excited watching boys on bikes with bats in their hand. I smile when
I see an old man shadow practicing a straight drive. I skip my lunch to watch India vs Pakistan. I dont
know when I got fascinated with sports but if I think hard it was when I took my mothers wooden block
that she used to wash clothes and played my first match.
If you ask any professional sports player what a sport means to them, they will answer that its their life. I
will say that is true for me as well as I share the same love and passion for sports. For some people, sport
is an escape from the monotony of everyday life. For others, it represents past unfulfilled dreams. For
still others, it is just something fun to do. For me, it goes beyond that. To me, sports are one of the most
primal, real things about life. Sports transcend time. The achievements of a player, or team, live on long
after the game is played. Sports are a connection between generations. They are a bridge that allows
father and son to share something they otherwise may never have. They bring together entire country
under a singular purpose. They allow for people with nothing in common outside of sports to share an
equal footing. Sports for me transcend all boundaries. It gives you freedom.
Sport has given me wonderful memories for life. It has brought out emotions from me and people
surrounding me which I thought never existed and connected us all. I still remember us purchasing the
new color television just for the 1996 cricket world cup. I remember watching Ajay Jadeja destroying
Waqar Younis in the semifinals and my father giving me a 100 Rs bill for buying ice cream that day (which
was of Rs 5 only). I remember how I met my best friend as we struck the same chord conversating about
last nights match. I remember how people whom I lined up against for the match became my life long
friends. I remember how I suddenly used to get sick on a match day to avoid school and mother getting
worried about my health. There have been times in my life that sports have been the key reason to why I
have been able to overcome, to make progress, to enjoy and to forget. I cant think of anything else which
has shaped my life the way sports did. It has taught me a lot about everything. I learned about
competiveness watching Andre Agassi battling Pete Sampras. I learned about team work watching
Australian cricket team dominating in every format of the game. I learned about commitment watching
Anil kumble bowl with a broken jaw. I have always tried to inculcate these values in me and improve as an
individual on and off the field.
I cant think of anything else for which I have been passionate about as long as I have been about sports.
I have cried when India lost, I have yelled at my team mates for bad performance, and also cheered them
for good. I have celebrated victory and suffered pain of loss. I have seen legends play, succeed and fall.
And I will continue to do all that and more the rest of my life.
