release candidate period, includes only defect fixes over the SBO
v1.6.0 Release Candidates (RC). All sites are highly encouraged to
upgrade to SBO v1.6.1. SBO v1.6.0 RC sites will be supported;
however hotfixes will only be issued to v1.6.1.
This Product Announcement is structured as follows to help you find
the information you need:
Product support Contact numbers (by region) and global email address for technical product support
Regional contacts Names and contact information for regional managers for more information
Features
The following summarizes major new features and software changes in SBO v1.6.1. Refer to the SBO v1.6.1
Release Notes and technical documentation for more information and the complete list of changes.
Improved WebStation experience
With SBO v1.6.1, WebStation provides greater flexibility and evolves to a more viable operator solution.
Enhanced support for workspaces and panels Extend users personalized layouts to
WebStation. Enhanced support for workspaces and panels in WebStation allows for a more
consistent user experience between WorkStation and WebStation.
HTML5 preview SBO v1.6.1 introduces support for HTML5 for graphics and trend charts. This
eliminates the Java software requirement and opens WebStation to be used on more web browser
options.
o When using the HTML5 viewers, Google Chrome is the
preferred web browser.
o This is a preview (Beta) of the feature; support for HTML5 will
evolve in future releases. This Beta preview:
Gives graphics developers a chance to adjust to the
new environment
Allows opportunity for integrators to provide feedback
to improve this feature in future releases
As this feature is in Beta, fixes for any defects identified will be incorporated into
future SBO releases i.e. not issued as an immediate hot fix for v1.6.1
o Users must manually select use of HTML5 in the browser settings.
o Existing graphics are supported, but may require some re-work.
See Release Notes for more information about graphics compatibility.
Refer to the following SmartStruxure Solution Community blog post for some insight
and helpful hints on this feature: https://buildingscommunity.schneiderelectric.com/community/bms/struxureware/sbo-v160-releasecandidate/blog/2014/12/03/preview-of-html5-based-graphics-viewer
o This opens WebStation to be used on other devices e.g. tablets
May require enhancements in future SBO versions for better tablet support
New setting to re-direct to HTTPS by default Users can set WebStation to automatically re-direct
to an HTTPS connection, ensuring more secure communications by default.
New support for Watch Window View saved Watch Window configurations from WebStation.
Helps in remote monitoring and trouble-shooting.
Cybersecurity enhancements
SmartStruxure solution is committed to continuously testing and enhancing its offer to minimize vulnerabilities.
SBO v1.6.1 includes a list of new cybersecurity enhancements, some include:
Password policy enhancements Set up password policies that will determine length, lifetime,
composition, and re-use
IP whitelisting for the Automation Server Increase secure communication by restricting access to
the Automaton Server to a pre-defined list of hosts or devices
SSL certificate management Specify and generate self-signed certificates and install externally
generated certificates via WorkStation
New setting to re-direct to HTTPS by default Also part of the WebStation enhancements
Web Server access logging Now all externally driven HTTP communication can be logged using
the W3C Common Log format
Remote logging path for system logs - Store larger logs covering a longer period of time by storing
HTTP access logs from Automation Servers
With the addition of some of the cybersecurity features, SmartStruxure solution satisfies system requirements
to meet DIARMF* compliance (*U.S. Dept. of Defense Information Assurance Risk Management Framework).
New Engineering efficiency features
This release includes several more engineering efficiencies designed to improve installation and operations.
Key features include:

Localization
Changes have been made to make it easier to support other languages and
localization within SBO:
Language packs for select languages are now part of the WorkStation
installer
Users can switch between installed languages directly from within
WorkStation
Users can switch between measurement systems auto-conversion rules
(U.S., SI, None) from within WorkStation

As the poll rate increases the CPU usage also increases. It is important to ensure that the Poll Duty
Cycle is optimized so that the system performs as expected.
The Poll Duty Cycle is most effective on Modbus TCP networks.
Alarm enhancements
An alarm can now have two shunt variables that can be combined with AND/OR logic; the shunt
variables can also be inverted
Alarm view
o Filters in the alarm view have been separated into Standard filters (configured via Alarm view
settings context menu), and temporary user-specific User filters (accessed via Funnel button
in Alarm view). In a coming release, the User filters can be saved and re-used.
o New column added in the alarm view, showing who manually disabled an alarm.
o Drag and drop from alarm columns allowed for quick filter.
Alarms hosted via EWS can be configured just like native SBO alarms
Notifications
o E-mail notification can be sent to an SBO-user or user group
o A time schedule can be set to control notifications
Sum Alarms: Sum Alarms have changed such that all state changes can trigger the Sum alarm
Note: Change to alarm assignments - If a schedule is not added to an alarm assignment, the assignment is
always active.
SNMP alarm traps v3.0 notifications
SBO v1.6.1 introduces support for SNMP alarm traps v3.0 notifications. This requires an add-on option on for
the corresponding server, either the Automation Server and/or Enterprise Server. Refer to the Product
ordering and availability section for part number information.
Xenta central time schedules
To save time and easily administer several Xenta Time Schedules (XTS) from a single point, a Xenta Central
Schedule (XCS) can be used with its lead/shadow functionality. A XCS can operate centrally on an Enterprise
Server or locally in an Automation Server, and can be used to group schedules for Xenta 280/300/401
devices.
The XCS in the Enterprise Server leads a shadow XCS in an Automation Server that then leads the
selected Xenta devices Time Schedules
When changing the time settings in a XCS, the shadow objects (XCS/XTS) are automatically updated
within one minute
Editing is currently only supported from WorkStation. Viewing is available through WebStation.
A XCS is created and configured in WorkStation; the XTS is both created and adjusted (for the number of
records) using the Menta editor.
Support for TAC Vista transition
The TAC Vista transition (to SmartStruxure solution) Conversion Tools enable content conversion of a Vista
server to a SmartStruxure solution server. The Conversion Tools version currently available are compatible
with SBO v1.6.0 RC. An updated, SBO v1.6.1 compatible version of the tools will be released in the coming
weeks, including additional conversion features.
More details to come in a separate announcement and release package specifically for TAC Vista transition
Phase 1, introduction of the Conversion Tools, during Q1 2015.
