1. Collection development

library provide varied, authoritative and up-to date information


resources that support the needs of its users
written collection development policy covering selection, acquisition,
preservation and weeding should be formulated
collection development joint responsibility of the faculty and library
faculty actively participate in the selection of print (books and journals,
maps, charts, etc.) and non-print (e-books, e-journals, databases,
audio-visual materials, CD-ROM, DVD, others)
collection currency should be maintained through regular acquisition
and weeding.

3. Organization & care of materials

Books catalogued and classified according to a standard system of


classification
catalog containing access points for author, title and subject should be
maintained to provide easy access and retrieval of items
provision for books needing repair and rebinding.
periodical records should be complete, accurate, updated and available
to the users

Periodicals catalogued but not necessarily classified


arrangement on the shelf should be appropriate to the system used

Tips in answering Self-Survey Form


avoid overrating or underrating
be sure answers can be justified or defended through documents,
actual practices and operation
answers should be based on present conditions and actual practice
answer what analysis question simply asks
evaluation ratings should be congruent and consistent with the
analysis ratings
