Introduction
The term drug has now been given a new connotation. It was used originally to mean
medicine. But nowadays it means not only medicine, but also the fatal narcotics that include
cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, and many other specifications. All these drugs
have their detrimental effects on the mind and body cells of the addicts. The young generation is
the worst victim of the iniquities of drug addiction.
Drug Addiction is a brain disease. The addict becomes dependent on drug and uses it,
despite having knowledge of its harmful effects on health. It is considered a brain disease
because it changes the structure and functioning of the brain.
Drug addiction can hinder or restrain a person from accomplishing his goals or dreams
in life. It can lead to harming ones body, causing problems in family structure, and contribute to
the delinquency in society.
Owing to the growing problem of drug addiction especially in the youth today, Bais City
Special Science Elementary school in cooperation with various national and local departments,
campaigns on the prevention of drug addiction through information dissemination and other
related advocacy programs.

Focal persons and experts on anti-drug campaigns such as the PDEA, and other
interrelated agencies may have been invited to take part in the said campaign but due to time
constraints such occasion was not employed.
The faculty and staff made full use of the resources that were available to aid in them in the
school wide campaign.

Conclusion
Addiction to illegal drugs is now recognized globally as one of the real dangers, which faces
the world. Drug abuse is no longer confined to any culture or socio-economic strata of society
but has entered all segments. It is very important to understand that it damages the individual
and the society very silently.
Parents and teachers have the most vital role in eradicating drug abuse since the activities
and behavior of children are most visible to them. The youth should hence be educated as early
as possible, so as to prevent future concerns related to drug addiction.

Recommendation
There is a need to hold an Anti-Drug Abuse Campaign every school year, not only for the
pupils of BCSSES but as well as to the parents and stakeholders. This activity significantly
helps in disseminating vital information against the use of narcotics and illegal drugs, thus, it
should be participated by all sectors of the community.
Advance collaboration with related agencies that may be of assistance to the campaign
should be planned so as to set timetables and prevent interruption of the anticipated activity.
