INFORMATION LEAD
POST SUMMARY
To take lead responsibility within Inclusion Matters Wirral Primary Care Psychological
Service, for developing, implementing, organising and managing all aspects of information
collection, recording and reporting.
You will need:

Thorough knowledge of a range of statistical/numerical techniques and procedures


acquired through qualification and/or relevant experience.

Good working knowledge of databases used in the Health/Social Care sector and
the ability to devise and implement data collection system.

The ability to manipulate and analyse complex data and write detailed,
comprehensive reports.

Experience of handling complex confidential information.

Advanced
keyboard
skills,

Microsoft

(Word/Excel/PowerPoint) and Adobe as well as e-mail and internet systems. Good
working knowledge of administrative processes.

The ability to work under own initiative and as part of a team.

The ability to liaise effectively with different professionals to determine information


needed.

Communication/Relationship Skills

To receive and process sensitive and complex information coming from a


variety of sources.
To communicate sensitive and complex information (detailed reports &
presentations) to a variety of professionals and other audiences and
adapting the amount and complexity of information given to suit the audience
e.g. Commissioners, other health professionals, stakeholders, service users
and members of the public.
To be fully responsible for providing all the information required by the
Services contracts and Service Level Agreements with other agencies.
To communicate with other professionals and agencies including Wirral CCG
regarding targets, data collection and report requirements, GPs and Primary
Care Leads and the software providers.
Work with local and Trust HIS departments to establish working protocols.
To assess the Teams information requirements based on their contracts,
Service Level Agreements and targets and accordingly develop, implement
and evaluate efficient data collection tools for use by Team members.
To assist the managers in ensuring that Inclusion Matter Wirral Service staff
are fully compliant with data protection legislation and NHS policies on
patient information.
To take responsibility for managing the IAPTUS Patient Management System
for the Service including maintaining client information, ensuring it is
accurate and up to date and to liaise with Team members regarding
collection of data and client information.
To take responsibility for sourcing or facilitating appropriate training and
development for staff.
To monitor the Services progress towards, and achievement of targets on an
ongoing basis.
To be fully responsible for writing and producing all reports e.g. for Wirral
CCG.
To attend meetings about Inclusion Matters Wirral contracts and Service
Level Agreements and deliver reports about the Services achievements and
targets as required.

Analytical/Judgement Skills

To process complex data and provide updates on the progress of the Service
towards identified targets.
To analyse the data in order to monitor the Teams performance against
targets.
To analyse the data to identify trends, gaps in Service and patient needs in
order to inform future development of the Service. To analyse the data
requirements of the Team in relation to contracts and targets and modify and
develop the database, data collection and reporting accordingly.
To identify and resolve faults or problems arising with regard to the database,
software, data collection or report and liaise as necessary.

To ensure all requirements under the Data Protection Act and other relevant
legislation and good practices are adhered to.

Matters Wirral in terms of data collection and use of databases and patient
management systems.

To assess the Teams information requirements based on their contracts,


Service Level Agreements and targets and accordingly develop, implement
and evaluate efficient data collection tools for use by Team members.

To take responsibility for implementation of this area of service development,


implementing and managing all aspects of data collection, recording and

To take responsibility for ensuring that all Service staff are fully compliant
with data protection legislation and NHS policies on patient information. To
develop and produce policies accordingly.

RECORDS MANAGEMENT
The post holder has responsibility for the creation and maintenance of records in
accordance with Trust policy and the Data Protection Act (1998) i.e. if required to do so,
obtain, process and/or use information held on a computer in a fair and lawful way, to hold
only for the specified registered purposes and to use or disclose the data only to
authorised persons or organisations.
The post holder has a responsibility to maintain timely and accurate record keeping and
where appropriate in accordance with professional guidelines.
