Farewell Mrs Bexley

Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews

Last week Mrs Bexley popped in for a visit to

1/2C. As you can see from the photo, the
children were all very excited to see her.
Lorraine has officially retired from the DET
after a career spanning over 40 years. This is
a remarkable achievement. We would like to
thank Lorraine for the many things that she
did during her time at Launching Place. We
wish Lorraine all the best in her future
endeavors!

Thank you to all who attended our parent/ teacher interviews

what a fantastic response we had. The home/school
partnership is strengthened by your attendance and is
significant in the educational success experienced by your
child. The interviews are an important part of the reporting
process, as not all information can be conveyed in a written
report. The process of discussing the achievements, the
areas of future focus and the path to achieve future goals, is
one that is best achieved through parents, teachers and students working together. A

reminder to please ensure that all portfolios are returned to school.

Student Leadership Through Student Voice

During terms one and two, our teachers sought to provide
opportunities for students to play an active leadership role
in their school life. Expressions of interest were called for
students to act in a variety of leadership positions. It was
great to see students stepping up and taking on extra
responsibility.
As we move towards the end of term two we have
continued to expand leadership opportunities for a greater
number of students. Students in years 5/6 have been
provided with the opportunity to have a voice, build their
self-confidence, develop their decision-making skills and further develop their speaking,
listening and oral presentation skills. The success of the Advanced Presentation Skills
program was evident last night as the students presented both prepared and off the cuff
speeches. We were extremely proud of the achievements of all who attended. Well
Done!!

Help Shape the Education State

The most important thing that we can do as a school community is to make sure we give each and every student a great education and a great start to life.
We know from speaking to many of you that you have great ideas for how we can improve the education we provide our students at school, and more broadly how
we can improve our school system as a whole.
We also regularly hear ideas from our staff, our school council, our local businesses and others in the community on how we can make our education system even
better.
The Victorian Government has committed to making Victoria the Education State and has recently begun a consultation process asking for us to share our ideas and
experiences, our challenges and solutions to help us improve our education system across the state.
This is an opportunity for all of us to have our say and play a role in shaping what our education system will look like in the years to come.
We will be thinking about how we can contribute our ideas to this consultation and we will be asking our staff to participate as well. We invite you to join in the
conversation, because your ideas and insights as parents of children currently in our school system are critical to making sure we get the vision right for our state
to become the Education State.
You could also use social media to encourage your family and friends to join the discussion education impacts everybody, and everyone deserves the opportunity
to have their say.

End of Term
Thank you for a very busy and extremely productive term. Please note that students will be dismissed at 2.30pm on Friday after
a 2.00pm assembly. Parents are asked to make alternative arrangements for their children if they are unable to pick them up at
this time.
Term three commences on Monday, July 13th. It is set to be another exciting term with major events taking place including
camps for students in grades 1/2 and 3/4.
We would like to wish all members of our school community an enjoyable and safe term break.
