Welcome to DePaul University’s annual Winter Job & Internship Fair, presented by the
Career Center! are happy that you have decided to join us as we encourage students and
alumni to explore the many employment opportunities available in these industries.

We are also excited to welcome over 90 top employers to today’s event. This program will
help you navigate the wealth of opportunities represented at this fair. Employer names,
web addresses, and open positions are provided for you in the Employer Profile section.
Also included is a job and internship opportunity chart. This resource offers an overview
of the types of positions each organization is recruiting for, as well as the level of work
experience they are seeking in candidates.

Job & Internship Fairs are one of the many services provided to DePaul University students
and alumni by the Career Center. For more information on the other services you may find
useful in your job search, reference the services overview provided on the last page of this
booklet.

 WORK THE FAIR
Maximize your success at the Fair—
follow these tips:
• Scan the Employer Profile section of this program carefully. Familiarize yourself with
participating companies and what positions they are looking to fill. Identify some
companies you know you want to see.
• Visit with all of the organizations that pique your interest—but don’t count out
companies you haven’t heard of, or those that don’t immediately appeal to you. You
never know where the best opportunities might be.
• Remember to smile and shake hands firmly. Most importantly, be yourself and be
confident—first impressions are very powerful.
• Body language matters. Convey your confidence and interest by listening attentively,
asking questions and mentioning your relevant experience and strengths.
• Hand out copies of your resume and be sure to wear your nametag prominently. Make
yourself memorable to the employers you’re meeting.
• Remember to get business cards so you can write follow-up emails or thank you
notes. Establish a follow-up plan with the employers that interest you.
• Although the lines for some companies may be long, be patient. Use your time wisely.
While you wait, read employer profiles, review your resume or take a few moments to
clear your mind and relax.

 BUILD A NETWORK
Don’t stop here—a professional network can be extremely
valuable.
• Make a list of contacts. Include as many personal contacts as you can, including the
people you met today (especially the people you spoke with personally). Include friends,
family, friends of family—particularly those who work in a career area you want to
target. Chances are, you know more people than you realize.
• Start contacting these people, one by one. Set attainable goals for yourself. For
example, decide which contacts are most likely to know something about your field,
and plan how many people you’ll contact in the next week or month.
• Consider tapping into DePaul’s network of alumni. There are many DePaul alumni
working in your intended field who may share your undergraduate major and could help
connect you with the right people and opportunities. The Career Center’s ASK (Alumni
Sharing Knowledge) volunteer program pairs DePaul students with such contacts—visit
the ASK OASIS at this fair for more information, or check out http://ask.depaul.edu.
• Research and contact professional organizations. These professional organizations
often accept student members, or would allow you to sit in on a meeting, where you
could meet more people in your field.
• Before you meet new people, do your homework. Research your target career field and
learn about individual organizations in that field. Be informed and knowledgeable when
you meet someone new in your area of interest, and decide what you want to learn
before you make the initial contact with a professional.
• Follow up with contacts regularly, but courteously. Make notes on all of your
conversations with contacts. This will help you remember people and follow up with
useful details.
• Send thank you notes, emails or letters. Anyone who has spent time talking with you
about their career or yours deserves a gesture of appreciation.
