Barre Combination

BeginningballetII,IwasunsureifIwasreadyforthechallenge.Ihadtakenballet
throughmiddleschoolbutstoppedafter8thgradeduetoabadkneeinjuryandsince
forgottenmanybasictechniquesandmoves.Neglectingdancefor5yearshasleft
memorethanalittlerustyandmykneeinjuryhascompromisedmystrengthand
flexibilityinmyleftleg.Iwasnervousmypreviousexperiencewouldnotcome
backandmyinexperiencewouldmakemelooksillyinclasscomparedtotheother
dancers.However,IthinkImadetherightdecisionintakingdanceII.Thoughitis
stillastruggleandImakemanybeginnermistakes,muchofmyprevious
experienceisslowlycomingbackandImalreadylearningalot.Imstruggling
mostwithfrappes,propertechnique,andmyarms.ImsureitsfrustratingthatIm
makingsomanybeginnermistakes,butknowIamhonestlytakingallyour
remindersandcritiquestoheart.Imsogratefulthatyouandtheclasshasbeen
extremelyhelpful,nonjudgmental,andwelcoming.Ivebeenpracticinginthe
Dolsonhallwaymanyofthecombinationsandhaveattendedareviewforoneof
yourothersclassesinordertotryandimproveandcatchup.Unfortunately,Ihave
beenunabletoattendanyballetIreviewsessionsasIplannedduetoascheduling
conflict.Mypersonalgoalsfortherestofthesemesteristogainstrengthbackin
myleftleg,achievemysplits,learntobettercarrymyselfasaballerina,andto
becomebetteratmultitaskingasIdance(thinkingofmyarms,posture,feet,gaze,
legs,hips,etc.allatonce)IhopeyouseethatImtryinghardandIhopebytheend
ofthesemesterIwillhaveimprovedgreatly,provingtomyselfthatIdeservetobe
inballetII.
