Anuban Weekly Outline

This week we are learning:
Circle Time Review
This week in circle time we are going to review
introductions and greetings from last week.We are
going to do this in circle and I will throw a ball to
each student and ask them the 3 questions from
last week i.e. What is your name? How old are
you? and Where are you from? The student will
then throw it back and answer using a full
sentence. They will then take turns asking these
questions to each other.
Once the students are comfortable with
introductions and greetings we are going to
introduce the new topic of animals and their
young.
Vocabulary/Grammar points:
Duck/duckling; hen/chick; cat/kitten; dog/puppy;
frog/tadpole; kangaroo/joey; horse/foal; bear/cub;
sheep/lamb; deer/fawn; bird/nestling.
A kitten is a baby cat etc.
We will also look at animal sounds and
associating them with their animals quack,
cluck, meow, woof etc.
How are you? I am fine/happy/sad/sick/good/bad
etc.

Phonics
This week, we will start by reviewing
the phonics we went over during the
last unit. The short a sounds; a, am,
and an. We will do an activity where
the students have to remember the
words they learned last week such as;
cat, ax, ram, dam, can, etc. We will
then begin with our new unit, still
focusing on the short a but with the ad,
ag, ap, and at sounds with words such
as bat, nap, bag, dad, etc. The
students will work through the unit 2
section of the oxford phonics
workbook and practice with the cd at
home. We will play games like fly
swat, and flashcard races for the
students to practice pronunciation.

Activity Time

We are going to continue to practice asking names and I will again use possessive pronouns (my, your, his,
her, our, their) so that I can ask what is his name? His name is Bright etc.
We are also going to practice asking how old are you?: and where do you live? The students will be
encouraged to answer in full sentences i.e. I am six years old and I live in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
I will introduce the calendar to the class where we will daily practice talking about days, months and the year
using full sentences i.e. What was it yesterday? Yesterday was Tuesday. Or Who can spell December?
etc. We will also daily discuss the weather with the class weather chart. Students as always are encouraged
to speak using full sentences i.e. How is the weather today? Today the weather is sunny and hot.
Songs:
We are going to learn the baby animals song and the animal sounds song.
Activities and Games:
We are going to play duck, duck, goose but using the focus vocabulary i.e. duck, duck, joey to replace
goose. We will also play splat using animal flashcards to help he students to learn the vocabulary in a fun
way. A game of musical chairs where the animal flashcards are placed on the chairs and the students have to
hold them up and read them aloud when they sit down is another alternative fun way to learn. Another game
we will play is charades, where a student will act out a certain animal and the others have to guess what it is.
They will be instructed to use full sentences i.e. Is it a pig? and the students acting will reply Yes, it is a pig
or No, it isnt a pig. We will also play some rounds of hangman to reinforce spelling. A game where the
flashcards of the animals and their young will be spread over the floor and the students will be asked to match
them up. We will then repeat this game later in the week with some of the cards turned over so they show only
the word of the animal. Throughout the week I will be asking the students random questions relating to this
topic, such as, What is a baby kangaroo called? or What noise does a cow make. The students will be
encouraged to answer using full sentences, which we will develop the following week. We will also do a
spelling test on the following words: Hello, Goodbye, I, You, What, Where, How, Name.

The students will do an exercise
where they will practice writing in
their handwriting booklets. We are
looking for correct shape and size.

Dear Parents. Please practise English

as much as possible with your child
and ask them their name, age and
where they are from. Also please
encourage the students to practice
their phonic alphabets at home and
spelling words using the phonic
alphabet. This is good practice to help
with reading. Thank you.
