OBJECTIVES OF EMP

Outlining the mitigation measures required for avoiding or minimizing the


potential impacts assessed by EIA
Developing a monitoring mechanisms and identifying the requisite
monitoring parameters to confirm effectiveness of the mitigation measures
recommended in the EIA
Defining roles and responsibilities of the Project proponent for the
implementation of EMP and identifying areas where these roles and
responsibilities can be shared with other parties involved in the execution
and monitoring of the Project
Defining the requirements necessary for documenting compliance with the
EMP and communicating it to all the concerned regulatory agencies
Prescribing the mechanisms with which consultation with stakeholders
during the project will be maintained

between stakeholders, EMS, monitoring,, emergency procedures,

site restoration

MITIGATION MANAGEMENT MATRIX

The required mitigation measures recommended in EIA


The person/organization directly responsible for adhering to or executing the
required mitigation measures
The person/organization responsible for ensuring and monitoring adherence
to the mitigation measures
The parameters which will be monitored to ensure compliance with the
mitigation measures
The timing at which the mitigation or monitoring has to be carried out

SITE RESTORATION PLAN


Site Restoration Plan will include:

Identification of affected areas including construction area, camp sites tracks,


land used etc .
Restoration of affected areas with maximum possible effort

May include the following activities:


All temporary construction built for the dam construction will be removed.
All the toxic and hazardous chemicals/materials will be completely removed
form the site. Efforts will be made to completely remove the spills during the
construction
All fencing and gates will be removed and pits will be backfilled
Whole site will be covered with the original soil and revegetation will be done,
wherever required

Site Inspection by IMC or Client is an important consideration

ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING PLAN

To check compliance with the requirements of the EMP by monitoring


activities of the project contractors on a daily basis.
To ascertain residual impacts of the operation. This will be achieved by postproject monitoring

Material Transportation Plan is prepared in such a way that there is minimum


hindrance to the local communities and to maintain flow of traffic
HSE arrangements and proper documentation have been planned in order to
achieve the above objective as follows:

Cost of compliance monitoring

Cost of effects monitoring

Cost of tree plantation

Associated salary and direct costs

TRAINING PROGRAMME

The key objective of training program is to ensure that the requirements of


the EMP are clearly understood and followed throughout the project. The
trainings to the staff will help in communicating environmental related
restrictions specified in the EIA and EMP.
