What is Client/Server?

Client-server computing or networking is a distributed application architecture that

partitions tasks or workloads between service providers (servers) and service
requesters, called clients
What are the characteristics of Client/Server?
Scalability
A client server system can accommodate growth and network expansions.
Computers can easily be added or replaced .Because a client server system is
centralized, servers can easily move files and applications from an old computer to
a new one.
Flexibility
Having a centralized management makes the client server system flexible to adapt
to changes and new technologies.
Accessibility
A client server system also is more accessible and secure than a peer-to-peer
network because servers ensure that everything that goes in and out of the
network passes through their stringent security measures

Internet Connection Firewall

connection.

UserState Migration Tool

Helps administrators to migrate a user's data and application/operating system
settings from an old computer to a new Windows XP Professional desktop computer.
System Preparation Tool (SysPrep)
SysPrep helps administrators clone computer configurations, systems, and
applications. A single image, which includes the operating system and business
applications, can be restored to multiple different machine configurations.
Remote OS Installation
Microsoft Management Console (MMC)
Provides a centralized and consistent environment for management tools.

What is Troubleshooting?
Troubleshooting is a form of problem solving, often applied to repair failed products or processes. It is a logical,
systematic search for the source of a problem so that it can be solved, and so the product or process can be made
operational again.

How many types of operating system?

Types of operating system

What is "browser cache"?
Your browser (Netscape, Internet Explorer, etc.whatever application you use to surf the web) has a folder in which
certain items that have been downloaded are stored for future access. Graphic images (such as buttons, banners,
icons, advertising, graphs, and color bars), photographs, and even entire web pages are examples of cache items.
What is Internet & Intranet?
The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet protocol suite
(TCP/IP) to serve billions of users worldwide. It is a network of networks that consists of millions of private, public,
academic, business, and government networks, of local to global scope, that are linked by a broad array of
electronic, wireless and optical networking technologies.
An intranet is a computer network that uses Internet Protocol technology to securely share any part of an
organization's information or network operating system within that organization. It is the connection of computer
networks in a local area.
What is a command prompt?
A command prompt is a non-graphical interface that allows you to interact with your operating system. At the
command prompt, you enter commands by typing their names followed by options and arguments. Most modern
computers use a graphical user interface (GUI), which allows users to more intuitively access programs and
documents. However, some programs and commands are still only available only through a command prompt.
What is a Modem ?

digital data over a communications line normally used for analog signals. A modem attached to a computer
converts digital data to an analog signal that it uses to modulate a carrier frequency.
What is a Router ?
Routers are physical devices that join multiple wired or wireless networks together. Home networkers often use an
Internet Protocol (IP) wired or wireless router, IP being the most common OSI network layer protocol. An IP router
such as a DSL or cable modem broadband router joins the home's local area network (LAN) to the wide-area
network (WAN) of the Internet.
What is an Operating System?
An Operating System is a computer program that manages the resources of a computer. It accepts keyboard or
mouse inputs from users and displays the results of the actions and allows the user to run applications, or
communicate with other computers via networked connections.

What is a Driver?
A driver is a small piece of software that tells the operating system and other software how to communicate with a
piece of hardware.
What is a Virus?
A computer virus is a program or piece of code that is loaded onto your computer without your knowledge and runs
against your wishes. Viruses can also replicate themselves. All computer viruses are man-made. A simple virus that
can make a copy of itself over and over again is relatively easy to produce. Even such a simple virus is dangerous
because it will quickly use all available memory and bring the system to a halt. An even more dangerous type of
virus is one capable of transmitting itself across networks and bypassing security systems.
What is POST?
Power-On Self-Test (POST) refers to routines which run immediately after many digital electronic devices are
powered on.
What is a Device manager?
Device Manager is an administrative tool, which is included with the Windows Operating System that lets you
manage the devices on your computer. Using Device Manager, you can view and change device properties, update
device drivers, configure device settings, and even uninstall devices. To access Device Manager, right click on the
My Computer icon, choose properties, then click on the Device Manager tab.
What is a control Panel?

tasks and/or provides access to specific software features, components and widgets.
The control panel is used to configure and manage almost all aspects of Windows, including keyboard and mouse
functionality, users and passwords, power options, network settings, desktop background, display settings, sound
settings, mouse settings, hardware and software options, installation and removal of programs, parental control,
speech recognition, etc.

What is a Driver Rollback?

A driver can be rolled back to a previous version using the Driver Rollback feature located within the device's
driver settings in Device Manager.
To roll back a driver in Windows means to return the driver to the version that was last installed for the device.
Rolling back a driver is an easy way to return a driver to a working version when a driver update fails to fix a
problem or maybe even causes a new problem.
Black Screen Error?

When you try to start Windows XP, the computer may appear to stop responding (hang) with an empty, black screen
immediately after the power-on self test (POST) is complete and before the Windows XP logo typically appears on
the screen .Black Screen of Death ( BSoD). A Windows 95 error that causes the computer to lock up, and the screen
turns black. The solution is to reboot.
Blue Screen Error?
Every Blue Screen of Death contains unique information that explains what went wrong. There are many different
kinds of BSOD issues possible in Windows, many with very different causes.
Almost every single BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) issue, however, is a hardware or driver issue, making the list of
troubleshooting steps fairly the same from error to error.
What is a ping Command?
The Internet Ping command sends a small packet from a domain or IP address to test network communications, and
then tells how long the packet took to reach. It usually helps in checking the network connectivity gateway
