Operating temperature Bearings with cages of steel or brass can generally be used at operating temperatures up to 125C at intermittent operation. For bearings with polyamide cages 120C are valid, but when lubricants with EP-additives are used, the bearing manufacturer should be consulted. In general max. operating temperature is decided by the lubricant used, which must be considered when choosing the bearing. Furthermore it must be noted that permanently lubricated bearings (with shields or seals on both sides) should normally not be used at higher operating temperatures than 110C at intermittent operation.

N R/MIN (= speed rating) Recommended speed rating is dependent on application and lubrication. The speed is valid for a grease lubricated bearing. For other types of lubrication, see manufacturers/suppliers catalogue. CA GE (= cage) No indication = corresponds to manufacturers/suppliers standard design. For bearings with other than standard cages, the cage designation is indicated as a suffix to the bearing designation. The most common cage designations are stated below: J Pressed cage of sheet steel. M Machined cage of brass. ML Flange guided cage of brass. MP Machined cage of brass, window type. P Moulded cage of glass fibre reinforced polyamide 66. TB Inner ring centred cage of fabric reinforced phenolic resin, obsolete type, check with supplier for availability. TN Moulded cage of polyamide 66. Y Pressed cage of sheet brass. To indicate how the cage is guided in the bearing, the suffix identifying the cage may be followed by letters A or B. A indicates that the cage is centred in the outer ring, B that it is centred on the inner ring. No additional letter indicates that the cage is centred on the rolling elements.
