What is MasterCard MoneySend?

MasterCard MoneySend is a funds transfer service run by MasterCard
Europe on behalf of its member banks to allow cardholders to send and
receive money via their MasterCard or Maestro card.
MoneySend allows cardholders to send and receive money faster and in a
more convenient way than ever before. Members using this service have
an opportunity to gain more revenue from a new market segment for cards
and also to reduce their existing costs of funds transfers.
The MasterCard MoneySend service:

is an issuer-branded Web site and an issuer-branded call center that can

also be integrated with issuer e and m-banking sites or other consumer
sites
uses the existing fast and efficient MasterCard International network to
process the transfer of funds
can be integrated with MasterCard SecureCode
is in line with the EU directive on cross-border funds transfer
respects FATF recommendations on anti-money laundering

How does it Work?

Funds Transfer Today
Transferring funds today involves a lot of administration. The person
wishing to make such a transfer has to complete lots of details including
address of recipient bank, address of recipient, IBAN numbers , BIC
numbers, all of which takes a lot of time and money to complete.

Funds Transfer with MoneySend

MoneySend makes life a lot easier for cardholders. Using MasterCard
MoneySend a cardholder simply goes the Web site of their bank or calls
their bank via a mobile phone, enters their password and then specifies
how much money to send, which card to debit and who is the recipient.
The receiver of the money can be identified as simply an e-mail address, a
mobile phone number or the MasterCard or Maestro PAN.
The MasterCard MoneySend platform translates the recipients e-mail or
GSM number into an associated PAN and then routes the transaction over
the MasterCard network.

Send using E-mail, GSM or PAN

Allowing cardholders to send money using mobile phone numbers and email addresses provides a much simpler experience compared to other
funds transfer methods currently in use. Cardholders can still enter the
PAN as the recipient identification if both the sender and receiver know
and are comfortable with using this number.
