The document discusses the grand inauguration and consecration ceremony for the Hindu Temple of Central Indiana (HTCI).

It is a ceremony that consecrates a Hindu temple using sacred water from metal pots through Vedic rituals. This sanctifies both the towers and installed deity idols of the temple.

There will be cultural programs like music and dance on the first four days of the event from June 3-6.

Grand Inauguration Event

Maha Kumbhabhishekam
June 3rd to June 7th, 2015

3350 N. German Church Road

Indianapolis, IN 46235
www.htci.org

Welcome to Grand inauguration event of

Hindu Temple of Central Indiana (HTCI)
Maha Kumbhabhishekam is a milestone event in the history of a Temple and
involves consecration of the Temple with sanctified water from the kumbhas (metal
water pots). The water, which turns sacred following its consecration through Vedic
rituals, is used for Abhishekam (pouring over) of both the Gopurams (towers) of
the Temple as well as the installed idols/images of the deities for sanctification.
Kumbhabhishekam is an elaborate process consisting of a sequence of several
rituals that last from one to nine days. For our Temple we will be conducting a
five-day event and the schedule of poojas and events of all five days are detailed
in the following pages. Seventeen Moolamurtis, made of granite and marble in
India and brought here, will go through the prescribed series of sanctifying rituals
for infusion of divinity into the murtis which includes establishment of Godly sight
by carving the pupils of the eyes on the murtis and infusion of life breath called
Prana Prathistha.
HTCI is the dream project of the Hindu devotees of Central Indiana for nearly half
a century and today we have reached the inauguration stage of this magnificent
temple wherein the familiar facets and design features of many famous temples
from the North, South, East, and West of India have been meticulously replicated
such that a single visit to the Temple can provide the pilgrimage of a lifetime! We
are planning a grand event befitting the grandeur of the Temple and reflecting
the magnitude of the effort and devotion that went into its creation. The Board
of Trustees, Executive Committee and the Kumbhabhishekam committee of HTCI
cordially request you to be a part of this sacred ceremony and experience this
once in a life-time event while receiving the Divine blessings on this auspicious
occasion!
This five-day event will feature a diverse array of activities meticulously being
planned by our planning committees. We will have free food, both lunch and
dinner, for all the devotees during June 3rd to June 6th and lunch on the final day,
June 7th. In addition, we will have a variety of cultural programs on the first four
days.
Please go through the information provided in this brochure regarding the
program schedules, accommodation and parking information as well as whom to
contact if you need any additional information.
Event and Temple information on your Smartphones
For the past few months Chetana, our Temples youth group, has been working to
infuse a modern theme into our Indian culture and Temple activities; the group has
done so through the development of not one, but two Apps for the Smartphones
HTCI Kumbhabhishekam App & HTCI App.
These Apps are scheduled to be released on Monday, June 1, 2015, and we invite
you all to download both Apps. The HTCI Kumbhabhishekam App is designed
specifically for the Kumbhabhishekam event, and the HTCI App is a more general
App regarding the Temple, both for Android and iOS. The HTCI Kumbhabhishekam
App will contain all necessary information for the June 3rd -7th event such as
parking and the program schedule while the HTCI App will allow you to see the
calendar, access the Facebook page, donate with PayPal and more.
More information will be made available on the Temple website later but if you
have any questions, please direct them to [email protected].
