VLSM Exercise

This document provides instructions for three VLSM networking projects. It includes network diagrams and information about the number of hosts and devices on each network. Students are asked to create VLSM addressing schemes and tables with IP addresses and subnet masks for each network interface. They must also label the network diagrams. Additionally, students must establish connectivity between the networks using static routes and configure security settings on all routers and switches.

VLSM Seatwork 3:
Part 1. Based from the network diagram and information below, create an addressing scheme utilizing VLSM. Tabulate the
VLSM addressing scheme and the specific ip address table with their respective ports. Label the diagram below appropriately.
Part2. Using the Packet Tracer illustrate and label the detailed network topology diagram for the following networks based from
the following network information given using the Packet tracer. Represent each network by a switch and a desktop PC.
Establish connectivity using static route.
Housekeeping for all switches and routers are as follows:
a. Provide their respective hostnames and domain name.
b. Provide a banner This is a secure network. Unauthorized access will be prosecuted. Cisco Network Administrator Only.
c. Prevent unwanted domain look ups.
d. Secure the console and vty lines (timeout 5mins) and prevent access to other ports
e. Provide each router and switch with the following:

Encrypt plain passwords

Line console and line vty: username and password: cisco12345

Enable password: class12345

Require a minimum of 10 characters be used for all passwords

Enable SSH connections (rsa modulus of 1024)

Impede brute force attempt for 30 seconds if someone fails 2 attempts within 120 seconds.
1. The ABC corporation uses a class B address 188.108.64.0/18. The network contains 3 routers, a Wisconsin router that
connects 188 hosts, an Iowa router connects 125 hosts and the Nebraska router with 45 hosts. A WAN link interconnects the
routers, WAN link 1 connects Wisconsin to Iowa, WAN link 2 connects Iowa to Nebraska and a WAN link connects Nebraska to
Wisconsin. Use Static route to connect the networks.

2. The Malayan College plans to expand its network in a local district. Router A will have a network with three computer labs with
30 hosts each. On router A, there will also be a network with 58 classrooms having 3 hosts each. Router B contains the office
staff and administrators that will need 28 hosts, the guidance and disciplinary office that will have 10 hosts and the faculty that
will require 24 terminals. Router A and B will be connected via serial WAN link. Setup the remaining addressing into two subsubnets for future expansion. The school has been given the address 192.145.75.0/21. Use default route to interconnect the
networks.

3. Mapua Institute of Technology is planning to set up a new network. The new network is connected to a router called Research
and Development department. It will have an address block of 198.167.128.0/24 and contains the following offices/laboratories,
a main office wing will include 25 hosts for the office staff/administration, 35 hosts for the faculty and 15 hosts for the
seminar/conference room. Another router (Lab router) connects the following laboratories; there are 5 microprocessor research
labs of 20 hosts each, 3 chemical processing research labs of 25 hosts each and 2 robotics and automation labs of 35 hosts. A
single serial WAN link connects the routers for the office and laboratories in the networks. Use default route to interconnect the
networks.
