Tutorial Week 5

ITECH 3203-7203 Professional Development


The TutLab sheets comprise two Parts: PART 1 and PART 2. Part 1 is to be attempted during the first hour of the
TutLab class and PART 2 during the second hour of the TutLab class. Both PARTS may be
attempted/discussed in groups of two students. PART 2 may require the use of a computer with some
specific software and internet connection.
All students are expected to complete both the Parts 1 and 2 INDIVIDUALLY.
Students will be given 1 mark for each tutorial that they attend and participate in this involves doing the set
work and contributing to any discussion sessions.
ITECH6101 students are required to attempt the Experiential Exercises as homework and ITECH2101
students are expected to attempt the same in their own time for further understanding of the concepts and
techniques.
As the final exam will draw material from lectures, tutorials and assignments, students are strongly advised to
work consistently and to attend both lectures and tutorials.

A computer supplies firm called True Disk has set up accounts for countless businesses in Dosville. True
Disk sends out invoices monthly and will give discounts if payments are made within 10 days. The
discounting policy is as follows: If the amount of the order for computer supplies is greater than $1,000,
subtract 4 percent for the order; if the amount is between $500 and $1,000, subtract a 2-percent
discount; if the amount is less than $500, do not apply any discount. All orders made via the Web
automatically receive an extra 5-percent discount. Any special order (computer furniture, for example)
is exempt from all discounting.

Meet with your group to decide on buying a Restaurant on Flinders lane in Melbourne CBD. The
restaurant has been running under the current management for the last 4 years and the current owners
want to sell it as they are opening a new one in another area of the CBD with more offices around. The
selling price of the restaurant is AUD80,000/- without the current Business name and AUD100,000/with the Business name (as the owners new restaurant is being opened under a different business
name). All equipments, furniture and fixtures will be included in both the deals.
