10.25am Morning Break and Refreshments
Reducing the Digital Divide in Asia
Affordable and reliable internet for all people in Asia and the Pacific will only be
possible if costs of internet infrastructure across the region can be lowered significantly. This is a major challenge as only less than 15% of the population in the
developing nations of Asia and the Pacific have access to high-speed internet.
In the least developed and landlocked countries inexpensive and reliable internet
access is almost non-existent. Recent developments within the Asia-Pacific
Information Superhighway initiative promise to increase the international bandwidth
for developing countries in the region as well as lowering internet prices. Reliable,
high capacity international fibre paths across all borders are necessary to achieve a
healthy internet connectivity.

5G Vision - 5G is not 4G+1
5G will build on the technologies we have today but will not be an extension of
those technologies a variety of complementary technologies will be required
to meet the stringent design criteria currently being established. Those criteria
will establish performance goals driven not only by societal and environmental
considerations but also by completely a new set of policy and regulatory demands.
Fundamentally new concepts and design approaches are needed that must
be integrated into systems that provide the necessary flexibility, versatility and
scalability at low cost and low energy consumption. 5G will only fulfil the promise
of enabling innovative new applications if it can deliver a significant reliability
and quality of service. 5G will need to embrace spectrum sharing technologies,
augmented reality, and latency requirements. Above all, 5G will need to be
intelligent and affordable. Getting 5G right is imperative for the health of the
economy, the protection of the environment, and the future of employment. Hows
this movement progressing?

12.00pm The Redefinition of Asian Broadcasting
If any Asian satellite user group can be described as dynamic it is the
broadcasters. Even as pressure increases on vital spectrum resources,
broadcasters are rallying to meet demand from an exponential increase
in channels, digital transition, and delivery of high-definition and
ultra-high-definition services. The satellite communications industry,
meanwhile, is offering new tools to meet broadcasters requirements;

Humanitarians, First Responders & Universal Service: The

Critical Mission
Billions of dollars worth of telecom budgets is supporting humanitarian
and development efforts in Asia. Satellite solution providers have
amassed tremendous expertise in implementing cost-effective
networks. And universal-service and other project-financing resources
are now available to support national and international applications
in developing nations. Or are they? This roundtable, including open
discussion from leading funding institutions, satellite communications
companies, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), will examine
whether satellite-based initiatives are making significant gains in
developing countries and if so, how.
Paul Krystoszek, Director Sales Mobility, Speedcast
GSM, Wi-Fi & Small Cells: Satellite Backhaul or Backlash?
Satellite backhaul is a well-established application and its potential is
enormous. But as satellite links extend the reach of terrestrial wireless
services, are remote satellite solutions in danger of being marginalised?
And as small cell and LTE rolls out in Asia, is there a compelling
business model for the latest satellite/terrestrial hybrid solutions? This
session will examine the latest trends in this emerging vertical market.
Emmanuel Timotius, Vice President Technical, Telenet
Defence, Security and Industrial Safety: Case Studies
David Ball, Chief Technology Officer, Newsat
Coffee Break
Going Offshore: Commercial Shipping and the Maritime Challenge
Shipping, oil, and gas companies are using a variety of wireless
platforms for voice, e-mail and the transfer of essential communications
to and from remote offices, staging areas, well sites, off-shore rigs
and literally every class of commercial shipping. The telecom tools now
available to serve these platforms include new M2M, mobile satellite
services, microwave, HF radios, and VSAT solutions. This session will
provide an opportunity to learn how satellite-based solutions are being
applied in the offshore sector.
Henrik Christensen, Chief Executive Officer Maritime, NSSL Global
Cockpits, Towers, and Passenger Connectivity: Civil Aviation
Takes Off
The satellite connectivity stakes have never been higher for the civil
aviation sector. In addition to expansion of traditional air-traffic-control
networks, many millions of air passengers per year now fly Asias skies
while utilizing satellite broadband links. What innovations are enabling
this break-through, and what has to happen next to meet safety-of-life
and consumer quality-of-service requirements?

Big Data: Growing Your Business With Smart Data

9.00am - 12.15am
Connectivity and the digitalisation of information have resulted in generation of massive
amount of data and in 2010, the term big data was coined. IDC valued that the 2015
market for big data at USD16.1 billion but the truth is the data is worthless if you do not
know how to harness it to your enterprises advantage.

10.30am
10.45am

So what can big data do? Use it to predict customers behaviour, tailor products to suit
his/her preference, increase your revenue by enhancing customers satisfaction. But
there are challenges: the lack of standards, lack of managerial skill with regards to the
volume of the data and privacy issues often hamper the use of big data to its fullest
potential.
In this workshop, the workshop leaders will:
show how to set up a big data framework in your enterprise irrelevant of the size
of the organisation
deliver methods in creating a big data culture
give you practical examples and case studies on how others have done it
present the potential benefits, savings and opportunities
discuss the current privacy concerns and how to possibly circumvent them
Who should attend:
CMOs, CIOs;
Head of Marketing;
Head of Customer Engagement;
Head of Customer Serviceof enterprises looking to grow their business
through big data or have been stuck at gear one with big data.

9.00am - 12.15am
With a spate of high profile cyber-attacks taking place globally on companies such as
Sony Pictures, JPMorgan, Microsoft Xbox, the black hat hackers are costing enterprises
not only millions of dollars, but are also making companies lose customer trust and
confidence.
The challenge at hand has become enormous with the implementation of cloud, big
data and IoT. The level of vulnerability is much higher now, and more are at stake. This
masterclass will go through the latest trends in cyber-attacks and highlight what each
corporate should have in place, be in policies, procedures and technologies to ward off
such attacks.
When the participants leave, they will have a toolkit of cost effective security/resiliency
that can be practically applied to their organization.
Who should attend:
Secure Software Development
Operations & Network Security Management
Enterprise Security & Governance
Digital Forensics Technologies & Processes
Masterclass Leader:
Barry Greene
Chief Strategy Officer,

9.00am
9.20am
9.30am

9.00am - 12.15am
With omni-present mobile phones, the way you market your products and services has
radically changed. It is now more about content marketing through enhanced customer
engagement. The efficiency or lack of it in content marketing through digital and social
media can make or break a campaign. In this workshop, attendees will learn about how
to devise a suitable content strategy for marketing and implement it successfully via
multiple channels including mobile, social and digital.

10.30am
10.45am

This workshop will highlight to you the slatest trends and future developments in mobile,
social and digital marketing for course-correcting the existing mobile marketing plans.
