AGRICULTURAL WEATHER OUTLOOK: APRIL 23 TO 29, 2015: RISING TEMPERATURES AND
SCARCE PRECIPITATIONS.

OUTLOOK SUMMARY
Due to the entrance of cold air in the previous days, the first stage in the perspective will present clear skies
and cool temperatures. Northerly winds will soon return, leading to a gradual rise in temperatures and in atmospheric
humidity. Towards the end of the first stage in the perspective, the passage of a storm front will bring scarce
precipitations. Only NOA, most of Paraguay and the northern-end of the Mesopotamia region will observe significant
rainfalls. On the contrary, most part of the Argentinean Ag. region and most part of Uruguay will report scarce values.
During the last days of April and the early days of May, the passage of the storm from will be complete, leading to
precipitations of varied intensity over most part of Paraguay, Argentina and Uruguay.

SOYBEAN
So far, soybeans harvest has covered 46 % of suitable area, posting a week-on-week advance of 13.5
%. Having collected more than 9 million hectares yielding an average of 3.8 Tn/Ha nationwide, the partial
volume accrued was 35 million Tn. Consequently, productive estimates remain at 58,500,000 Tn.
Around 95 % of accumulated production comes from first seeding plots, reporting harvest progress
accounting for more than 53 % of national area, with an average yield of 3.8 Tn/Ha. The remaining volume
corresponds to partial production from second seeding plots, marking progress for 15 % of suitable area,
and an average yield of 3.3 Tn/Ha.
The main harvest progress within the last seven days on first and second plots was observed in the
mid-north of Cordoba and mid-north of Santa Fe, posting progress levels of 54 % and 48.5 % of their suitable

area. In the former region, early plots are yielding 4 Tn/Ha, and second plots are averaging 3.7 Tn/Ha. Toward
the latter region, first plots are reporting 3.5 Tn/Ha, and second plots 3.1 Tn/Ha.

CORN
Corn harvest in the last seven days reported progress of 1.5 %, raising harvested area to 25.7 %. 800
thousand HA were harvested, yielding an average of 8.8 Tn/Ha nationwide, with an accrued partial volume of
7 million TN. Although most of the corn area is suitable for harvest, the slow progress is due to the fact that
producers prioritize soybeans harvest this time of the year. Therefore, final production estimate remains at
23,000,000 Tn this season.
Week-on-week progress in the SE of Buenos Aires posted 12 %, accounting for almost the entire area
harvested this far, where regional average was 5 Tn/Ha. The SW of Buenos Aires showed the second best
weekly harvest progress (7.5 %), covering 22.5 % of suitable area, and yielding a regional average of 5 Tn/Ha.
Surveys in the north of La Pampa and west of Buenos Aires posted week-on-week progress
for only 2.5%. To date, harvest has estimatedly covered 30 % of suitable area, with a regional average yield of
9 Tn/Ha.

GRAIN SORGHUM
Up to date, grain sorghum harvest has covered 31.7 % of suitable area. Within the last fifteen days,
harvest made progress of 14 %, with the bulk of harvest taking place in the province of Crdoba, the midnorth of Santa Fe and the NE Area. Overall, more than 260,000 HA were harvested, accruing a farm grain
volume of 1.25M TN, and an average yield of 4.9 Tn/Ha. Consequently, production estimation stays at
3,500,000 TN for year 2014/15.
The NE Area has collected 180 thousand HA so far. Due to significant harvest progress since our last
publication, average yield is now estimated at 3.8 Tn/Ha. The mid-east of Entre Ros has reported progress of
10 % since the last publication, which was the minimum fortnight progress since the start of harvest.
Harvest has begun in the south belt, covering so far 15 % of suitable area, with an average yield of 6.3
Tn/ha. Toward the north belt, harvest progress posted 65 % of suitable area. Yield was 6.4 Tn/Ha, and
pending plots are showing very good production prospects.
