Fundraising
The idea of having a Frozen Theme for fund raising came from the School Council. They
proposed the idea to me and the two deputies with enthusiasm and confidence. We were so
impressed with how articulate they were; how could we say no? As a result of the staff and
childrens hard work, on Friday 13th February, 2015 the school was transformed into an amazing
Frozen spectacle!
Children and staff were dressed up as some of the main characters in the Disney Film,
Frozen. The dulcet sound of childrens voices singing Let it go, could be heard throughout the day.
The hall was transformed with the use of large mobiles depicting childrens work and, the menu for
school dinners also had the Frozen theme. It certainly was a day to remember. As a
result of the dress - up themed day we managed to raise 422.00.
Thank you to the staff, Parents/Carers, children Eden and the kitchen staff.
Red Clothes Day.
On Friday 13th, Elmwood would be celebr ating
Red Nose Day! However, we just simply want your
child to wear something red. To dress up for the day
is free!
However, after school the staff will be offering face
painting and Tattoo happy hour. Face painting will
take place in the main hall and the tattoo parlour will
be in a classroom. Face painting will be 1.00 per
child and the cost for each tattoo will be 50p.

Dear Parents/Carers,
I am proud to say that every year, Elmwood Infant and
Nursery School take part in the Show Racism The Red
Card Competition. For the last six years, we have won five
times and, we are the overall winners in the country!
The effort our children and staff put into the competition
and the quality of work that is produced is amazing. If you
are interested in seeing the winners gallery please do not
hesitate to make an appointment to come in and have a
look.
So now, this month, the staff and children are busy
preparing for the SRRC competition. You may hear from
your childs class teacher, or your child might come home
and tell you about the work they are doing for the
competition. We welcome your support.

Reminder: World Book Day will be celebrated on

Friday 6th March at Elmwood Infant School.

Year One will be performing their Spring Assembly for Dolphins and Seahorses

Digital Leaders

Last week, some of the children in year 2 attended a Digital

Leaders course at West Thornton Primary Academy. The course
involved developing childrens expertise with technology so that
they can become a digital expert. As a digital expert, they would
be able to support their peers when problems arise using the
iPad, tablet, laptops etc. The children really enjoyed themselves
and were well behaved. They were great ambassadors for the
school. If you want to know more about their day, please look at
the Home Page.
