B-Professional Information
1-Overall Aims of Course
Introduce the student to perform a preliminary fuselage design and then improve this
design using the finite element method.
2-Intended Learning Outcomes
A-Knowledge and Understanding
Upon completion of this course the student should be able to:
Calculate the buckling strength of a curved sheet
Calculate the loads and stresses in frames
Analyze the diagonal semi-tension field of curved webs
Perform a preliminary fuselage design and calculate MOS
Improve this design using the finite element method
Design a connection (bolted, riveted and welded)
Understand some important details in airframe design
B-Intellectual Skills
Upon completion of this course the student should be able to:
Perform a fuselage structural design
Checking this design using the finite element method and perform the necessary
modifications
Study of the static and dynamic behavior of a structure using a finite element
model with application to fuselage design
Structure optimization
Design airframe connections
Make the necessary modifications at cutouts
