I. INTRODUCTION
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Study habits have been defined as the attitude of one person towards their
academic year in life. And according to the dictionary, the definition of study habits are
the behaviors used when preparing for tests or learning academic material. It has been
also studied by many researchers.
According to Micaller (1987), students nowadays tend to disregard their studies
due to the lack of patience and commitment towards the lessons that teachers taught
them. In simpler terms, this study implies that students are in favor of wasting their time
and effort copying word-for-word in each and every assigns given to them. The real
problem behind the situation is that students, especially in this generation with a world
full of technology, finish their homework without understanding the concepts as taught by
their mentors or teachers. The solution to this problem therefore, was to enhance the
ability and skills of the students to be able to fully understand the lessons that they read
or wrote in their notes.
A support study from Smith (1991) expressed that the ideal system of education
would not happen if students do not develop their study habits, and methods in learning
new skills and lessons provided. This explains why home works were given high
emphasis in improving a students study habits.
9. Keep healthy and balance. Though it is difficult to live a balanced life while in school,
you must consider that the more balanced you seek out in your life, the easier for you to
overcome every components in your life. Being healthy also, gives you more energy to
do your tasks.
10. Know what are the expectations are for the class to abet you understand the course
requirements and the professors expectations.
These ten effective study habits will highly improve not only your approach
towards studying but also your mind-set to have a satisfying grade. Success in studying
is wished by everybody, but to be successful, one must work for it through hard work and
diligence. However, at the end of the day, we must not forget that studying doesnt end
with passing the exam. Nevertheless we must always remember Sir Thomas Edison said
in his quotation, A single sheet of paper cant decide my future, we must not always rely
with test weve take during our school years but with the values we obtain from it.

Sometimes
From the 100 respondents, 12% says that they do not enjoy studying, 53%
says they do enjoy and 35% says sometimes, which is according to them, they answered
sometimes because it depends on the professor, on the topic, and depends on their
mood.
RECOMMENDATION
If another research will be made, it is recommended that questions should be
more specific and descriptive to determine more information about the students studying
habits. Also, equal number of questionnaires should be given to different blocks of
different courses to justify that the researchs respondents are generally the students of
the University of the City of Manila, and for the results to be more accurate.
