Alternate Installation Package Format
The Metadata Assistant default format is an .exe file which bundles in the required Microsoft
components. However, if you prefer to use an .msi file format, this can be extracted from the
setup .exe file.
1. Open the user's system Temp directory (%temp%). Keep this window open and visible.
2. Start the Metadata Assistant .exe installation file by using one of the following methods:
Double-click the file
Use a command line
3. In the Temp folder you will now see three temporary folders that follow a Product ID (GUID)
naming convention.
4. Open each of these folders. One will contain the .msi installation file. The name of the file will
be either MA4Enterprise.msi or MA4Retail.msi.
5. Copy and save the .msi to a separate location for use at a later time.
6. Cancel the installation once the .msi is extracted.

Important Notes
If the User Access Control (UAC) is enabled, we advise that you install the .msi files in
elevated mode. The .msi files are supported per-machine and require administrator
privileges to deploy them.
You must ensure that the programs prerequisites are installed prior to running the .msi. It is
recommended you download these directly from the Microsoft website and install them
before executing the.msi.
Refer to page 3 of this document for information about the required Microsoft components.
You can use the standard Microsoft Windows Installer switches to execute the .msi. For a list
of these, type msiexec.exe in the Command line or the Run line.
