The Canadian government will grant PASO accredited athletes, coaches, and officials access to Canada for the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto using their PASO identity cards as travel visas. Citizenship,ImmigrationandMulticulturalism,arepleasedtoannouncethattheGovernmentofCanadaiscommittedtograntingallPanAmericanSportsOrganization
(PASO)nations(admissibleathletes,coachesandofficials)accesstoCanadaduringtheirvisittoTorontoin2015bywayoftheirPASOidentitycards.

TheToronto2015Pan/ParapanAmericanGamesbidhasafederalgovernmentguaranteethat,onceissued,thePanAmericanidentitycardwillhavethesameforceas
avisawhenaccompaniedbyavalidpassport.ThisguaranteeincludestheexemptionofassociatedvisafeesforallPanAmGamesparticipants.Gamesparticipants
mustapplyforthecardandapplicantsmustmeetCanada'snormalimmigrationrequirements,includingsecurityscreening.
Aportionofthefederalgovernment'scommitmentof$500milliontowardthePan/ParapanAmericanGameswillcoverthecostoftheaccreditationprocess.The
government'saccreditationprocessisconsistentwiththecommitmentmadetotheVancouver2010OlympicGames.
ThePanAmGamesareamajorinternationalmultisporteventheldeveryfouryearsforathletesofthe42PASOmembernations.TheGamesconsistofallsummer
OlympicsportsplusothereventsselectedbythePanAmericanSportsOrganization,andanumberoftheparticipatingsportsqualifyfortheOlympics.Thelastedition
oftheGameswasheldinRiodeJaneiro,Brazil,inJuly2007,andthenextwilltakeplaceinGuadalajara,Mexico,inOctober2011.
