George Brown College Positive Space Award
The George Brown College Positive Space program is a reflection of the colleges commitment to welcome
and include all members of the community and to create a college community that is free of discrimination
and harassment based on gender and sexual identity.
The George Brown College Positive Space Award was created to support and celebrate lesbian, gay,
bisexual, two-spirit, trans or queer (LGBTQ) George Brown students and recognize the positive contribution
LGBTQ students make to our college's diverse community. This award is available to a full-time George
Brown student who self-identifies as a member of the LGBTQ community and who has either
1. Demonstrated leadership in the classroom and/or community in promoting the recognition
and celebration of sexual and gender diversity or
2. Worked to reduce discrimination, homophobia/transphobia/biphobia or heterosexism at
George Brown College or in the community.
Applicants must submit:
1. Completed Positive Space Award form (see pg 2).
2. One reference letter (cannot be from a relative).
3. An essay (500 words maximum) detailing relevant experience relating to above criteria.
Deadline to apply is February 13, 2015. Applicants will before the end of March.
