The History Department of our College has been functioning since the inception of
the college in 1969.At present there are three numbers in the department.
Dr.V.K.Mohan,M.A,M.Phil,Ph.D,Principal,
Sri M.Dasu,Lecturer,
Sri Y.Sambasiva Rao,Lecturer.
Sri K.Benjamin,Lecturer(Part time).
The founder Principal of our college has been a lecturer in History and hence
associated with the department. He received best teacher award from the State
Governament.He served as Principal till 1983 and then as correspondent of our
College.He also worked as correspondent and secretary till 1998.Sri C.Apparao,Sri
M.Bhaskara Rao,Sri Ch.Harshawardhana Rao,Sri P.Prabhakar and Sri Y.Rajaram also
served our department.
This is the college, where history, as a great humanizing force has

been recognized and given due place in the academic studies in the college.Our
college has hosted the prestigious Andhra pradesh History congress 11th session on
5th&6th January 1987.A number of distinguished people like Proof.Irfan Habeeb,
Chairman of I.C.H.R, Prof D.N.Jha of Delhi University,Dr.V.V.Krishna Sastry,Director of
Archaeology,Dr M.L.Nigam, Curator of Salarjung Museum,Prof N.G.Ranga,
Parliamentarian,Kisan leader,Prof V.Ramakrishna, Central University,Prof M.Krishna
Kumari of Andra University, Prof S.Nagaraju of Central University, Dr K.Subramanyam
,Deputy Director of Higher Education and more than hundred delegates participated
in that conference.
Our College has also hosted the third and sixth session of
Guntur District History Association. Eminent scholars like Prof Dada Abdul Baker of
Myduguri University, Nigeria, Prof P.Ramalakshmi, Prof D.B.Murthy, Prof. V.S.sastry of
Nagarjuna University participated in the sessions.
Our Library is stocked with some choicest collection of Books on
art and Architecture, on ancient,medieval and modern history and the liberal arts.
There are 1200 books in English and 400 books in Telugu ,we are subscribing to two
Magazines -Marg and Bharathi. These are very valuable to both the staff and the
students. In addition we have established a Museum in 1987 where these culptures
and artifacts from Mohanjadaro to Vijayanagar are displayed along with photos of
Temples and Stupas, reprints of Mughal, Rajasthan paintings are kept .The display to
the students and the public aims at fostering a deep interest in our cultural heritage.
We are using visual aids like the slide projector, the
Epidiascope, maps and charts. We focus the paintings ,sculptures, monuments etc
on a screen and explain them for the students .we find this interesting, impressive
and useful.
Another salient feature of the dept is the study tours .Every
year the students of B.A. go on a study tour to historically important places like
Hampi, Mahanandi, Golkonda, Hanumakonda, Warangal, Mahabalipuram, Kanchi etc.
Such tours enable them to have a proper understanding of history and their learning
does not remain bookish. Most of the lecturers and teachers working in the coastal
area of Guntur are our former students. Under COHSSIP of UGC we surveyed the
monuments in Guntur district and a report covering all aspects was published.
Sri P.Prabhakar former lecturer of our Department has taken
an active part in the extension activities like Janmabhoomi and during his tenure the
college was awarded a cash prize of Rs-2,00000/- by the government of Andhra
Pradesh, thus bringing laurels to the college.
We are proud to say that Dr.V.K.Mohan of our department, working
since 1972 is presently the Principal of our college. His unique achievements are ..

1. Sri.K.Ramakrishna Naidu, founder head of the dept.
of Economics is known for his proficiency in the
subject and is still in the thick of academic activities.
2. Sri.Y.V.Krishnamurthy and Sri.B.S.Bhaskara Rao were
also dedicated teachers and gave good ideas to
students about economics..
3. Smt. K.Kanakarathnam is a good teacher and she is
working as the head of the department at present.
With the help of students, she makes socio economic
survey of Edupally village, near the college head
quarters.
4. This Department, for sure, is a role model for all

Presently Sri. A.Harikrishna, Head of the Department,.sri.G.V.Surya Rao,
Lecturers, rendering their valuable services to their best. Sri .A.Hari Krishna
earlier practiced as an Advocate and is also doing social service under a charitable
trust .He is the Warden of B.C Hostel of our College. He is also the Treasurer of
Old students Association. Our Department has been involved in various
Associations actively.
We have conducted student benefit programmers like Mock Parliament . actively
this Connection we successfully performed it on 30th Dec 2005. BA students
participated in the event. We visited along with our B.A Students Local
Administrative Bodies, Judicial courts, Police Station at Repalle.
Sri.G.V.surya Rao is the Vice- Chairman of Adult Education Association. Sri
A.Harikrishna is the Vice- Chairman of the Humanities Association and Alumni

1. Sri N.Koteswara Rao, B.Com(Hons) was the founder Head. Of the Department of
commerce . He worked as the Principal of K.V.R. & K.V.R College, Khagipalem on
Lien for two years and became the principal of our college for the decade i.e,
during 1983 to 1993.
2. Sri A.v.Raghava Rao, M.Com, ICWAL, Head. Of the Department of Commerce.
He has been the principal of our college from 2002 to 2004. He was qualified for
ICW while in service.
3. Sri B.Srinivasa Rao, M.Com,M.Phil,the present Head. Of the Department has been
the principal, FAC of our college in the year 2003-04. He worked as a warden for
SWSM Hostel for two years and warden main Hostel for three years . He got
M.Phil degree under UGC FIP.
4. Sri P.Jayaseela Rao, M.Com,M.Phil, Lecturer in Commerce was on deputation from
1/12/1998 to 30/11/2003 to B.C welfare Department as a Director, B.Cs study
circle, Guntur. As a Director he received merit certificate and certificate of
appreciation from Dist. Collector, Guntur and commissioner, B.C welfare
Hyderabad. He worked as an Editor for MERUGU monthly magazine published by
B.C welfare Dept. He did his M.Phil Achaya Nagarjuna University and submitted
his thesis on A.P tourism for the award of Ph.D. His contribution to Telugu
literature are Palavelli Book on Bala Sahityam, a Book on Vedic Literature for
competitive exams is under print.
5. Sri. I.Veera Babu, M.Com., is the incharge warden for Main Hostel and member of
the disciplinary committee of the college.
6. Lieutenant M.Sambasiva Rao, M.Com.,working as Lecturer in Commerce is the
Company Commander of NCC unit after successful completion of
precommissioned training for three months at officers training academy,
Kamptee. Again he attended officers Training Academy, Kamptee for one month
training for further promotion from second lieutenant to lieutenant. He has
achieved the following notable achievements so far.
(a) a Cadet by name L.Naga Raju of II B.Com has selected for basic
leadership course, New Delhi.
(b) Cadet B.Rama Krishna of II B.Com has selected for Republic Day parade,
New Delhi. He also got best cadet award from the Battalion. He was
awarded with an appreciation from the Honble Governor of Andhra
Pradesh.
(c) Cadet Ch. Mohana Krishna of second B.A has been selected for Talasena
camp, New Delhi.
All the above achievements first of its kind since the inception of
NCC unit in our college.

1. Workshop: It is obtained from the Grant of U.G.C and is catering to the general
needs that arise in construction of buildings, like drawing of water and electrical
fittings, regular maintenance of all the buildings, housing the departments of
Physics, Computers, Electronics, Botany, Zoology
.
2. 15.K.V.Generator:Operating and maintaining 15 K.V. power generator in times of

electrical non supply which is a general feature in this remote village, is thus
helpful in non-stop conduct of practical classes and examinations as per schedule.
3. Audio and visual Equipment: It contains equipment like Epidioscope and Over
head projector, Slide projector,16-mm film projector, C.D player audio mike
system lighting equipment and Photography lab(with dark room having
equipment) cater to the needs of conducting seminars, symposium and major
functions held at any department or the college as a whole, maintained and
utilized but the staff of the physics department. Short term courses are conducted
for the students (all having totally rural background ).A course in domestic
electric wiring and course in Photography out of the college working hours are
conducted periodically which help poor students from villagers to make some
earning from the training. The staff of the department have planned and
conducted these courses which are widely appreciated by parents and public.
4. Department Library and Physics Reading Room: Books obtained from, the UGC
funds under COSIP became the core books to which many books were added as
a ready reference library for the Physics staff and Physics students. The reading
room has been of help to the poor students for ready reference and note taking
under the guidance of learned Staff because it is housed in the department it self
along with the departmental Library.
5. Students Participation :
1. Enthusiastic students have been trained to focus to observe astronomical
objects eclipses and phenomena like ellipses including total solar eclipses,
using the terrestrial telescope denoted by the UGC and a small reflects
telescope procured by the department. This together with popular lectures by
the staff on cosmology and astrophysical problems helped, create interest
among the students on the cosmos.
2. Occasion like the birthdays of Great physicists, particularly that of C.V.Raman,
and the national science day have been celebrated with total students
participation involving them in small seminars group discussions ,quiz
programmers and essay writing on life and works of scientists .This ensured a
living interest of physics students in the adventurous lives of physicists and
marvelous discoveries in Physics.
3. Latest news items concerning the present day discoveries in Physics covered
in newspapers are put across the students for understanding and
appreciations through group discussions and question answers sessions and
brief seminars from students. This has improved the understanding of the
current trends in Physics.
4. Periodically the students have been guided to go on educational tours to
institutions of Physics located in cities like Madras, Bangalore, Hyderabad and
SHAR centers.
5. Subject of Physics in the syllabus has also been imparted by way of films like
PSSC(Physical sciences study committee), British council films and films from
other countries using 16 m.m projector in the department, guest lecturers

from specialists in the subject has been regular features.
6. The equipment procured under UGC-COSSIP grant for the Physics Lab has
been put at the disposal of the students to learn the way of precise
observation particularly with constant deviation spectrum for optical
spectroscopy and Geiger-Muller counter for nuclear radiation detection and
measurement. The basic approach for precession measurement through
truthful observation has been a mainstay of the approach important to the
physics students in the department.
7. Meritorious students have been identified immediately after admission and
have been guided in addition to their curricular activities, in the extracurricular
activities to build their personality through positive debating, paper-writing
,prepares material for demonstration or exhibition, for public awareness and
teaching through mass contact in villages. Thus popularizing scientific method
and spirit. This has produced wonderful results in seeing our very good
students studying in many Universities as PG students as doctorate students
and post doctoral scientist stationed in institution like T-I-F-R of Mumbai I-ISC, Bangolore and India and U.S Universities in fields like Physics and
Computer science and Computer applications research.
6. STAFF EXCELLENCE:
The Physics department is fortunate in having a meritorious and
devoted founder head and members who could be the first to be selected for the
first batch of teacher fellows under U.G.C. F.I.P. Under this scheme the founder
head Dr M.V.Subba Rao obtained Ph.D degree in Nuclear physics with in the fellow
ship period of 3 years and helped who have lively contact with the scientists of
B.A.R.C Mumbai E.C.I.L, Hyderabad and I.I.S.C Banglore and Andhra University
which inspired time to time the students and staff through communication and
contact .Another distinguished teacher Dr.T.V.Krishna Rao also obtained his Ph.D
from S.V University under a similar programme. Mr P.Srinivasa Rao obtained his
M.Phil Degree from ANU. Other staff members were regularly selected for COSSIP
programmes, UGC workshop trainings and updated their knowledge in Physics to
be of the benefit of students. On the whole the Physics department even from its
inception has been a dynamic creative and forward looking entity to cater to the
real needs of physics students of the present day .Recently the former Head Dr
M.V.Subba Rao achieved the Bharath Jyothi award for his services to society.
7. P.G.DEPARTMENT:
In 1960 when graduate level education was a dream to rural people
S.V.R.M College was established in this backward rural area, giving people
educational opportunity at graduate level. Today times have changed, Indian
economy is becoming globalized, with several multinational companies in various
fields, like pharmaceutical, chemical, oil, textiles, software, hardware,
nanotechonologies have entered India to lap the scientific skills and education
youth of India .Demand for Post-Graduate scientific personnel has increased and
job opportunities have increased. With this current situation and futuristic insight
the management has introduced M.Sc chemistry and M.Sc Physics courses in our
college .Thus at postgraduate level Physics course has become a possibility in
2005 and is very much available to Nagaram and surrounding areas, surrounding
rural people need not go far away places to do M.Sc in Physics, with the simple
fee structure and Hostel facilities and mess facilities with non profit motto, This
P.G Department of physics is a boon to the rural people for higher scientific
education. Further the department is having eminent faculty members with a
Ph.D from I.I.S.C and research experience and international reorganization .The
department also has initiated research activity and contribution with various
national and International Laboratories.
Eminent Physicist Dr.V.V.Srinivas Joined the Department as a
faculty member in the year 2005 the same year when the P.G physics department
started functioning. Since then he has been building up this department as a very
successful and potential center for higher Physics.
Awards and Contribution ; Dr.V.V.Srinivas has published more than 30 research
papers in prestigious international journals.He has participated and given invited
talks /seminars in various international conferences.He is being recognized for his
work internationally and has got the following International Awards.

Mathematics department is known to be the best department with good academic
staff when compared to other rural colleges and also our staff members are good
sports men and also encourage the students in all the extra circular activities.
1. N.V.S.Srinivasa Rao, Head of the department of mathematics worked as
Principal for the year 1977-78
2. G.M.Gandhi is most efficient Lecturer and he is the first man in EAMCET
coaching in this area and also wrote Intermediate text book for Vignan
Publications.
3. G.Rama Rao, lead the department very efficiently as the Head of the Dept.
4. G.Hanumantha Rao, wrote the books for competitive examinations like ICET
for Deepthi publications, Tenali and B.C.A.CET for G.S.R publications, Guntur.
5. Our department conducted special classes in arithmetic and reasoning for the
students who appeared B.S.R.B, R.R.B ,Navy and Air force etc competitive
examinations.

1.Good Herbarium: The Department has been maintaining a good herbarium which is
very useful to the student in studying taxonomy and herbarium
preparation. A good number of local Ooty and Kodaikanal flora was
collected by the staff along with students as and when Botanical
tours were arranged by the department.
2.Fossil Collection:
The department collected few fossil plants and preserved in the

Botanical museum. They are collected by staff along with the
students during Botanical tour. They are useful to the students
for Paleo Botanical studies.
3.Phylogenetic Tree: A model phylogenetic tree was made by the Department.

It exhibits the phylogenetic system of classification made by JHON
HUTCH-INSON 1959.Available specimens belonging to different
classes were collected and placed in their respective places in the
tree.
4.Wood-Annual Rings: Different woods showing annual rings were collected by the
department and kept in the Botanical museum. The age of
the plant can be estimated roughly by counting the number
of annual rings of the wood.
5.Evoluation of plant life:
A Huge wall chart showing the evolution of plant life through
ages was painted on a wall in the microbiology laboratory
by the Department. It emphasizes the origin of plants and
their progressive evolution at a glance.
6.Eminent Persons:
A good number of old students of this department proved

themselves as eminent persons in the fields of Medicine,
Agriculture, Veterinary science, Biotechnology and Education.

1. Smt. T.Indira Krishna Rao (19692002) Head of the Department worked
as F.I.P Scholar at S.V.University and awarded Ph.D in 1984.Smt,T.Indira Krishna Rao

worked on neuro biological studies as the snail pilaglobosa, with special reference to
the effects of pesticides (SEVIN). This is very useful to the farmers. It deals with
chemicals, pest control and pesticides. As pesticides are being used to ensure the
production of adequate supplies of food and fiber for ever growing population, the
use of chemicals will be continued and intensified all over the world for fighting pests
of crops, stored foods for animals and insects and other vectors of diseases in public
health. It is a great attribute to mans ingenuity.
2. Sri.G.Ramakrishna Babu (19692002) presented a research paper in environmental
pollution, water Pollution by pesticides and metals. In this work every activity of the
sphere ironically enough is closely associated with determination of the environment,
the pollution of the environment inevitable of technological advancement made for
better living. Pollution of the environment is of different kinds. Organic pollution,
thermal pollution, noise pollution and chemical pollution. Chemical pollution is known
to occur in different ways, namely Organic and Inorganic chemical wastes ,oil refinery
effluents, heavy metals detergents, radio activity, pesticides.
3. Sri P.Venkata Rao (19762000) wrote a text book in zoology for Intermediate course
in English and regional languages. Now he is working as Principal in Vignan group of
Institutions.
4. Mr Pulagam Ramakrishna III.B.Sc C.B.Z (199598) was awarded Prof P.N.Ganapathi
memorial Gold medal in Zoology who scored highest marks in Nagarjuna University
area.
5. Mr P.Koti Ramesh III.BSc CBZ (20012004) was awarded Prof P.N.Ganapathi
memorial Gold medal in zoology who scored highest marks in Nagarjuna University
area.

Electronics subject was introduced with the combination of
Mathematics and physics in our college in 1985.The advent of Electronics subject
ensured the future of hundreds of our rural students by providing a promising career
to them. In 1988 it was identified as an Independent faculty as it was separated from
physics.
Most of the students who have come out are working in reputed
companies. Some of them are even with MNCS. Between 1997 and 2002 an un
precedent slump in the field of electronics caused to shut the doors of the
department .There was hardly a student to seek the admission in between the
academic years 1997 and 2002.Later in 2002 our management revived the
department with new combination of Maths, Computers and Electronics. Since then it

1. The First four Lecturers of our department perceived the ideal behind the
establishment of this institution in rural situation. Being the products of
prestigious Universities with good academic background and professional
skill ,they understood well their task ahead.
(a) The reputation of our department built up over the years was the
out come of the team work of the pioneers of our department Sri
K.Ravibabu, Sri C.Subba Rao, Sri D.V.S.Kameswara Rao and Sri
M.Pulliah. They took up the herculean task of educating the rural
students without educational background who were form attended
to poor families and who attend to agricultural work in their leisure.
Being efficient and experienced they devised and adopted several
novel methods to teach them English as a foreign language and
shape this raw material into English speaking and writing material.
(b) In the formative years , these lecturers volunteered free coaching

to all the students out of college hours as an extension service.
They took extra care in regard to those who were very backward .
We practice it
even today with sincerity and commitment and
improvement of the knowledge and result of the students day-byday.
(c) They further bore the laborious task of giving them written
exercises and correcting them. They thus improved the knowledge
of the students in spelling and grammar. Our students were also
blessed with printed notes free of cost which helped to improve
students performance.
(d)
In addition they used to conduct literary competitions in English

periodically such as essay writing, elocution, recitation and
encouraged students to use English freely. Ultimately they
succeeded in enriching the department. The noble contribution of
this gifted faculty empowered a good number of students to make
their bread comfortably.
(e) Not only in professional skill each of these four lecturers were
distinguished in their own way. Sri K.Ravi Babu, the Head of the
department is an influential writer and eloquent speaker. He has
been the editor of a socio-literary magazine namely Prajashakthi
which aims at making people aware of anonymous literature and
the uplift of the downtrodden and women. He has a good
interaction with students as well as his colleagues .He has lavishly
spent his time with them which in turn helped him to maintain
healthy relationship with them. As a successful Principal, he has
promoted proper relationship between the management and the
staff and guided a new section of Un-aided lecturers to meet the
standards of our college. His liberal way of dealings with students
earned him a good appreciation. He is a man of various facets with
keen perception. Being a tireless and strenuous worker he can
accomplish numerous tasks with commitment at a time. Even after
retirement, he is putting his effort to bring out latent abilities of the
intellectuals and youth through various socio-economic, political
and literary activities.
(f) Another pride of our department is Sri C.Subba Rao who is an inborn genius and a rare scholar .His scholarship and critical analysis
resulted by extensive reading have puzzled the scholars with Ph.Ds
and other higher Degrees. His law Degree has developed logical
thinking in him. People from surrounding villages have approached
him for his valuable legal advice. Inspite of his intellect his
instruction has been simple and direct reflecting his clarity of
vision. His well organized material has made the students learn
standard English and pass ultimately with flying colors. Besides he
is a good speaker and has given more than twenty talks over the
Radio. He is a man of modern ideas with flexible thinking who
responds to a noble cause readily. His reaction to the block buster
film Sankarabharanam has come in the form of a book written with
the perfect analysis of a cine Journalist. He acted as the resource
person during a refresher course conducted in S.V. University,
Tirupathi.
(g) Another jewel in the crown of our department is sri
D.V.S.kameswara Rao who is a popular teacher with exceptional
writing skill. His articles published in several magazines have
reflected his intellect, art sarcasm and gentle humor. His teaching
mingled with appropriate illustrations and interesting anecdotes has
attracted the rural students readily. His teaching as well as his
written material given to the students has met the requirements of

students
and helped them to fulfill their immediate purpose
successfully. With his pleasant and lovable personality, he has
enlightened and enlivened his colleagues in the department.
(h) One more great contributor of our department is Sri M.Pullaiah. He
has done pre-Ph.D in Andhra University. He is perfect symbol of an
English lecturer with good accent and exceptional command over
English. He is also a skilful speaker. His writing ability has brought
him fame and his drafting has the management once. He has
thrilled worked as the Principal of a degree college on deputation.
After the retirement of the first three lecturers, he has become the
Head of the department. His innovative Ideas and clear perception
have helped the juniors to adopt new methods and practices
according to changing needs. He has guided the youngsters to
carry on the work in the foot steps of our pioneers. His valuable
pieces of advice always motivate us. His spontaneity of speech or of
producing written test ever inspire us. These four lecturers with
their dedication and commitment have proved themselves as role
models in teaching profession.
2. The young staff members who have come after them have understood well
the ideals of the institution as well as the valuable contribution of the
first batch of lecturers .The only task before them is to continue the same
standard once have been laid. They are working like their predecessors
with sincerity and enthusiasm to meet the needs of the rural students .
3. The English department still conducts literary competitions in English like
essay writing ,elocution, recitation etc. at regular intervals.
4. All the four members of our department conduct remedial classes for
backward students.
5. Sri K.Surendra Babu has taken the initiative in preparing and providing
printed notes to degree students .He has also given tutorial coaching to
backward students of this rural area out of college hours. To make
students good at spoken English, he has taken up a three week crash
course in spoken English, especially for second and third year degree
students. First year students have spoken English in their curriculum and
all the measures have taken classes for them in different sessions.
6. Sri Y.T.Ramulu has given tutorial coaching to backward students out of
college hours. He is doing his M.Ed through distant Education. He has
applied for M.Phil (part time ) in Acharya Nagarjuna University.
7. Sri S.Dass has done a refresher course in Acharya Nagarjuna University.
He has attended a few seminars and workshops in the last two or three
years on spoken English-art of Speaking English in the media and recent
trends in teaching English Grammar. He has presented a paper in seminar
on post-colonial Literature and New curriculum. He participated in a five
day teaching programme conducted by Acharya Nagarjuna University as a
workshop for English language teachers. He has recently become the
member of CIEFL library. He is doing M.Phil on CIEFL part time basis in
Acharya Nagarjuna University.
8. Smt Y.Supriya has participated in seminars on spoken English-Art of
speaking and English in Media in the last two or three years .She has also
attended a five day orientation programme recently conducted conducted
by Acharya nagarjuna University for English lecturers to teach spoken
English included in the curriculum for the first year Degree students this
year. She has applied for M.phil(part-time) in Acharya Nagarjuna
University, the admission of which is not yet over.

9. The English department usually conducts seminars and vocabulary quiz
for students to promote active interest among them in the foreign
language.
10. Our department has sent a proposal to U.G.C to conduct a seminar on
communicative approach in the teaching of English language.
11. The English department has free access to the faculty of English
department of Acharya Nagarjuna university as one of the staff members
is doing M.Phil in the same University. We consult the professors there
for any sort of academic help.
12. The members of our department are active participants in co-curricular
and extra-curricular activities.

13. Our English department gets an asset this year as spoken English for first
degree students has been introduced. To teach spoken English. A
computer system is provided to our department .
A few CDs and audio
tapes are added later. Our management has
generously provided a
few head phones and microphones. We get a temporary laboratory to
teach spoken English.
14. A Guest lecture on phonetics and correct pronunciation is conducted for
first degree students. The resource person is Sri M.Pullaiah, former
member of our department.
15. The measures taken to improve the results have given good results .
Conducting the same methods, we have decided to encourage the
growing number of girl students from near by villages.
16. Smt Y.Supriya has set question paper this year for first degree of J.M.J
college of Guntur district, an autonomous institution.
17. Sri S.Dass of our department has helped in organizing day wise
programmes during the refresher course conducted in Acharya Nagarjuna
University.
18. We maintain a library in our department and encourage the students to
make use of them .we guide them how to use them and extract
information from them.
19. We have purchased a few books on better pronunciation , functional
English and Phonetics this year. We play the CDs given with those books
in free time and make students aware of colloquial English used on
various occasions.
20. We go on consulting the senior lecturers of our college once worked and
retired and of other colleges and institutions for better performance and
output.
21. We are enthusiastic to apply for special English at U.G level which has
once been introduced and withdrawn lacking minimum strength
considering the matter of a good number of students graduated from our
college doing P.G English. We plan to do it in next year.

This Department was formed at the beginning of the college .Since
the formation of the Department till 1983 Sri K.Siva Ramakrishna sastry had acted as
the head of the department . He was a well known scholar in Sanskrit, English, Urdu
and in Telugu languages. Before Joining here he worked as lecturer in Bhadruka
college ,a famous college in Hyderabad. He was a member of R.S.S. He participated
in so many social activities and got good name in the society .Later some people
joined and worked only for few months.
Next eminent person in the department was Dr A.V.Panakeswara
Rao who joined in the year 1972. Due to his hard work and excellence, the
Department got new core competence. He was a versatile genius and wrote number
of poems, essays and short stories. All these works were published in various dailies
and weeklies like Andhra Bhoomi, Andhrapatrika, Andhra Jyothe etc. He also
Published two famous books, Rasamanjari and Sahitisravanthi(kavitha
sankalanalu).He got his Doctorate from Sri krishna Devaraya University by submitting
his thesis on the works of Sri Moturi Hanumantha Rao, a well known writer from
Vijayanagaram District.
He rendered his services in the form of extra curricular Services
like N.S.S and Adult education .As a Co-coordinator of N.S.S, he conducted N.S.S
camps in the surrounding villages like Matlapudi,Bhavaji palem and Nijampatnam.By
encouraging students each one teach one he promoted Adult Education through
these services. He got good name in the public.
Among the existing three members Sri P.Gopi Chandra swami,
Head of the department has good acquaintance in public due to his art of Harikatha
ganam.

The second man of the department, Sri Burra.Ratna Raju had acted as convener to
literary associations. In his time the college won many prizes through out the state in
quiz, debating and essay writing. Under his guidance, N.Srinivasa Rao B.Sc M.P.C,
G.Srinivasa Rao B.Sc C.B.Z achieved the prizes. V.Hemasudha Mayi a B.Com Student
achieved Gold Medal in Essay writing State level competitions held at Kavali . It was
the landmark in the History of our College.
The third person Smt K.Pushpamma got two gold medals in
the post graduation level at S V.University, Tirupathi. The medals are donated in the
name of Sri Damodaram Sanjeevaiah and Sri Pingali Lakshmi Kantham. She is an
asset to the department.

The department of Hindi of S.V.R.M college is having a rich History.
Sri S.Madhusudhana Rao was the founder member of the department .
1. He was a great social worker .
2. He was N.S.S co-ordinator. He Worked greatly to provide Bus facility from Tenali
to Nagaram and extended the road facility from Tenali to Nagaram for the sake of
students.
3. He worked as a Journalist for Enadu news paper.
4. He established vegetable market at Nagaram where there was no source in 1969.
5. He gave good guidance to students for employment facilities.
6. Smt. K.Vijaya Kumari is a good Lecturer and she is working as the Head of the
Department at present and gives good guidance to students to learn Hindi
language. And she got cash award at Andhra University in the year 1995 in M.A
Hindi. She motivates the students during literary tours.
