TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION
We will be using these technology tools on an ongoing basis this year:
All class information and assignments will be posted on our Schools VLE
(Schoology) at vle.cempaka.edu.my. This includes an idea about whats
happening in class as well as when all homework and assignments are
due as well as your marks and feedback. Additionally, we will be using this
for Discussions, where you will be answering prompts developed by each
other that reflect some of our learning as well as continuing a discussion
after the school bell has rung. We may also share materials on the VLE.
EXPECTATIONS
Behaviour
Caring :
They show empathy, compassion and respect towards the needs and
feelings of others. They have a personal commitment to service, and act to
make a positive difference to the lives of others and to the environment.
Open-minded:
They understand and appreciate their own cultures and personal histories, and
are open to the perspectives, values and traditions of other individuals and
communities. They are accustomed to seeking and evaluating a range of points
of view, and are willing to grow from the experience.
Inquirers:
They develop their natural curiosity. They acquire the skills necessary to conduct
inquiry and research and show independence in learning. They actively enjoy
learning and this love of learning will be sustained throughout their lives.
Reflective :
Knowledgeable :
They explore concepts, ideas and issues that have local and global
significance. In so doing, they acquire in-depth knowledge and develop
understanding across a broad and balanced range of disciplines.
Work Ethic
Arrive to class on time
Complete work on time. Heres a secret: If an extension for work is
necessary, approach me BEFORE THE DUE DATE and explain why.
If it is handled maturely, and not abused, I will work things out with
you. Again, this is a way to begin encouraging you, as a Secondary
School student, to take on your own responsibilities.
Be prepared for class, with all required pre-reading (if any) done.
Late for class or incomplete/late homework/project submission/if
you are not in your seat when the bell rings, you will be marked
Late in your VLE Attendance Record. If you are delinquent in
your work, you will receive Demerit Points for the delinquent
month. Please refer to the School Rules and Demerit System.
NOTE TO PARENTS
How you can help
Your child cannot succeed without your help at home. They must get their
work to school and to me on time. Keep track of their progress from the
VLE; be aware of when tests are and when assignments are due. Do take
note that the Report Card is an online one and is available on the VLE
at all times. Encourage them to come to me to ask questions BEFORE the
due date on an assignment. They must continually work hard and their
work must show their effort. I will not accept work done with only of their
effort. With your help at home and with my guidance at school, your child
will navigate beautifully through Cambridge Checkpoint Mathematics.
