Based on the results of soil investigation and labs results the value of elastic settlement is:

Se=

B. CONSOLIDATION SETTLEMENT

0.298116 mm

Based on the results of soil investigation, soil consists of clay soil with water table elevation are at ground surface. In
addition, soil investigation also get NSPT value below the water table is 23->60. This soil is categorized into the type
of very stiff to hard silty clay. The consolidation settlement will be very small and could be negleted.

C. DIFFERENTIAL SETTLEMENT CHECK

Based on design basis criteria, the differential settlement between two foundations is half of the total settlement
whereas the differential settlement should not exceed the criteria L/250 . The total settlement is the sum of elastic
settlement and consolidation settlement due to the shelter weight. The total settlement on this case is

ST = Se + Sc = 0.298116 mm
Hence the differential settlement occurred on this case is

= 0.088873 mm
While on steel building the criteria for differential settlement is
