Two new headsets have been developed by Clement Clarke International, manufacturer of the
well known AIRMED range. They are designated Airlite 90 and Airlite 2000.

Airlite 90 is a medium-weight headset with a fully adjustable boom and

a clip-in microphone mount. Earshells are acoustically designed to produce
superior attenuation of ambient noise, with the plug and socket located at the
down-lead entry. This not only allows an immediate down-lead replacement to
be made, but also provides a built-in earpiece wiring conversion between parallel, series and individual systems.

Airlite 2000 is an ultra-lightweight headset with an electronic noise-cancelling microphone. It has a wide range of applications and is extremely comfortable to wear.

DESCRIPTION
General : Twin-turboprop, high-wing transport aircraft
designed to carry 42149 passengers in pressurized
accommodation over sector distances of up to 700 nm
(1300 km) at a cruise speed of approximately 280 kt
(519 km/hr).

Wings : Cantilever high-wing monoplane with airfoil

section specially developed by AEROSPATIALE. All-metal
two-spar construction in conventional light alloys. Fail-safe
structure. Double-slotted wing flaps with fixed slat,
comprising inboard and outboard sections each operated
by separate hydraulic actuator. Electrica,I actuators
operate trim tabs in elevators, aileron and rudder.
Fuselage : Multi-stringer monocoque light-alloy structure
built up from main and secondary frames covered with skin
panels. Cabin floor supported on 4 longitudinal beams
which carry the seat rails.
Empennage : Cantilever structure built as sep~rate unit
and secured to rear fuselage frames. High-set fixed
horizontal stabilizer. Interlinked elevators each having a
trim tab operated by electrical actuator.

Landing g_ear : Retractable, tricycle-type gear is

hydraulically operated with nose gear retracting forward
and main gear units retracting inwards, partly into fuselage
underside and partly into main gear fairings. Main wheels
have anti-skid units. Main gear tire pressure 100 psi
(7 bars) but low pressure tires (65 psi) with modified gear
fairings offered as option.

Powerplants : Two Pratt & Whitney Aircraft of Canada Ltd

PW 120 advanced-technology turboprop engines of
2277 shp nominal power, each driving a Hamilton
Standard 14 SF four-blade constant-speed propeller of
13 ft (3.96 m) diameter. The PW 120 engine is flat-rated at
1800 shp for normal take-off, this power being maintained
to ISA + 13 C at sea level. All fuel is carried in two integral
tanks located between wing spars in the center and outer
wings.

Combined maximum fuel load is 9,920 lb (4,500 kg).

Single pressure refueling point in leading edge of right
center wing permits refueling rate of approximately
75 USG/min. at 50 psi (3.5 bars). Control panel in right side
main gear fairing. Gravity refueling points on wing upper
surface.

Accommodations : Flight compartment for flight crew of

two, with optional jump seat. Passenger cabin
.
accommodates either 42 (at 32" pitch), 46 (at 30" pitch), or
49 (at 30" pitch with slightly reduced baggage
compartment volume). Seating is four abreast with large
(1 8") central aisle. Overhead baggage bins and underseat
stowage. Passenger door with airstair at rear on left.side of
the aircraft. Forward baggage/cargo compartment
between flight compartment and passenger cabin has
separate loading door on left side. Toilet, galley, wardrobe,
cabin attendant's station and rear baggage/cargo
compartment are at rear of cabin, with service door on right
side of aircraft.

Systems : All accommodation is press.urized an~ air

conditioned using air bled from the engines. Maximum
pressure differential 6 psi (0.41 bar) per~itting passenge~
operation up to 25,000 ft , where cabin .altitude of 6,500 ft 1s
maintained . Two independent hydraulic systems each
supplied by an electropump -:t- accumulator ope rat~
landing gear, wing flaps, spoilers, nosewheel steering plus
the normal, emergency and parking brakes: Elect_rical
system has a Ni-Cad battery, two 9 kW engine-driven
starter-generators, two 20 kVA engine-driven wildfrequency alternators, and two static inverters.

Avionics : Standard pack includes 2 VHF, 2 VOR/ILS with

integral marker receiver, ADF, DME, ATC transponder,
CVR, interphone and passenger address system. Full
range of optionals, including Cat. 1 or 2 autopilot and flight
director, HF systems, GPWS, MLS, radio altimeter, RNAV,
Selcal, etc.

conclusions, making remedial recommendations, monitoring actions and

Candidates must hold AMS licence on 8737 and/or AMS licence or
company approval on L1011 to cover electrical, multi X and/or radio/
radar systems. Your experience must include at least 15 years on
pressurised metal aircraft of similar complexity and at least 5 years as a
