THE T-MATRIX CONCEPT

T-MATRIX is a cost-effective
and extremely flexible TETRAover-IP (ToIP) communications
infrastructure solution designed
and produced exclusively
by Artevea Digital Limited
(ADL) to meet the needs of
professional organisations
worldwide.
An important distinction
between a TETRA-over-IP
system and a conventional
(switch-based) TETRA system is
that with a ToIP system there is
no central switch, thus
eliminating a critical point of
potential failure. Instead, full
use is made of IP (Internet
Protocol) network technology to
provide reliable data routing
between network components.
This unbeatable combination of
IP technology, a distributed
database and the advanced
TETRA communication standard
produces a feature-rich solution

The Data Gateway enables

devices within the Tetra System
(e.g. Terminals, dispatcher,
NMT) to access an external IP
data network. The external
network can either be public
(e.g. the internet) or private
(e.g. a corporate data network).
The Telephone Gateway
facilitates voice communication
between TETRA Network
subscribers and PABX/PSTN
network subscribers.

of the T-MATRIX TETRA
Network.

OVERVIEW

with an unprecedented degree

of flexibility and resilience. In the
event of a radio site becoming
isolated from the network it can
continue to operate in
standalone mode until such time
as normal network
communications are restored.
Any sites still able to
communicate with each other
can also continue to work
together whilst temporarily
isolated from the main part of
the network.
T-MATRIX SYSTEM
ELEMENTS
A T-MATRIX TETRA
infrastructure system typically
comprises:
A number of Radio Sites
A T-MATRIX private IP
network, which interconnects
all system elements
Gateway Equipment, which
interfaces to external networks

Control Equipment, which

provides operator access and
control over the system
configuration
T-MATRIX RADIO SITE
EQUIPMENT
Each TETRA radio site can
accommodate between 1 and 8
carriers, giving 4 to 32 logical
channels. For further details see
our T-MATRIX P and
T-MATRIX F brochures.

Reference Database
This acts as a central reference
for all system data. Due to the
distributed database concept
however, all data is also
distributed across the system,
resulting in a highly resilient
architecture.
