prevent unauthorised entry (operating mode
must be clearly identified and marked on the
program switch, e.g., GEZE DPS)
Doorsets leaves and side screens shall be
capable of being broken out in any position in
escape direction. Max total force 220 N
Caution!
Do not mistake a doorset in

fire resistant door,
where the door MUST
close in case of a fire or
emergency signal
Seite 27
Sliding doorsets
Requirements for doorsets in escape routes and emergency exits (2)
Doorsets without break-out function
Sliding or folding doorsets with a clear opening

in
- 3 seconds after activation in escape direction or
- latest 5 seconds when power supply goes off and
remain in open position

system according to Performance Level d of EN
ISO 13849-1
Fail-safe system shall be automatically tested, at
least once every 24 hours
Example
Opening width: 2000 mm (blue)
door has to open at least 1600 mm (red dotted
line) within 3 seconds!

Revolving doorsets
Requirements for doorsets in escape routes and emergency exits (1)
General issues
Only doorsets with break-out function are
allowed for escape routes and emergency
exits (at any doorset position!)
Break-out function is unlocked when mains
power goes off (or via appropriate command
of e.g., a fire alarm system)
Break-out function release trigger method is
selected in the following order:
1. External signal via fire alarm or building
services control system (GEZE product?)
2. Release device positioned in a 24-h a day
manned area (hotel reception) with direct
view of the doorset
3. emergency stop equipment when the
doorset stops releases break-out mechanism
Seite 52
Revolving doorsets
Requirements for doorsets in escape routes and emergency exits (2)
General issues (2)
Emergency stop switch required in accordance
to EN ISO 13850 stop category 1
Exception: low energy revolving doorsets shall
be equipped with emergency stop switch stop
category 0.
Emergency stop switches are to be positioned
at the access point in the inner side of the
building
After a reset of an emergency stop, GEZE
revolving doorsets make a functional check and
automatically restart the system if all safety
functions are working correctly
GEZE Emergency

Seite 53
Revolving doorsets
Testing for EN 16005 compliance on site
General issues
Tests are not required if revolving doorset is operated in low energy
mode, otherwise:
At main closing edge/opposing closing edge
Touchless protection (e.g., with GC 338 or GC 334) (Figure a) via
CA reference body; or if a contact is allowed with the doorset, check
permissible dynamic forces!
At secondary closing edge / floor
CB reference body is positioned in the leaf center. The doorset shall
come to a stop without passing over the body (Figure b).
No contact with door leaf is allowed, except for flexible parts of the
protective device
If a ESPE (e.g., GC 338 or GC 334) is used, test should be
performed with reference bodies CA+CB (Figure c)
At main closing edge / inside wall
Reference body CB is positioned at 1200 mm height above the floor
on the drum (Figure d)
No contact of door leaf allowed except for flexible parts of the
protective device

EN 16005
Terms and definitions (1/2)
Power operated pedestrian door
Doorset for pedestrian passage only with one or more leaves that is moved, at least in one direction, by an
external energy supply (e.G. Electrically) instead of manual or stored mechanical energy. It includes drive,
leaves, protective devices and any components needed for its safe operation
Sliding door
Power operated pedestrian doorset with one or more leaves, moving horizontally in its guides parallel to
the adjacent structure
Folding door
Doorset with two or more leaves hinged together with one side of the leaf hinged or pivoted at the
doorset jamb
Revolving door
Power operated pedestrian doorset with one or more leaves connected to a common vertical axis of
rotation within an enclosure
Swing door
Power operated pedestrian doorset with a leaf which is hinged or pivoted at one side
Fire door
Generic term used in this standard for fire resistance doorsets and/or smoke control doorsets
Break-out
System whereby doorset leaves and side screens can be pushed open manually in the direction of escape
Activator
Cycle
Lintel
Horizontal structural member spanning an opening at its head to carry a load above the opening
56
EN 16005
Terms and definitions (2/2)
Side screen
Side wall fixed or with a break out function that can be part of a power operated pedestrian doorset
Track
Edge of a doorset leaf, whose distance from the parallel opposing edge or surface determines the usable
aperture
Edge formed by the main closing edge of a counter closing leaf, a fixed edge or a surface against which the
doorset leaf is moving (e.G. frame, floor)
Any other closing edge of a doorset leaf, which is not the main closing edge or the opposing closing edge
