TAZ CHOMPS GATORS

TAZ 534 CG 254
FINAL MEET: GRANITE BAY 7/19/14
COACHS CORNER
Hello fellow TAZ,
Another great performance this weekend at College Greens thank you to all the families and swimmers that
came down to Sacramento to compete. They were a lot of good swims this weekend and it showed with the
score - final score was 534-254. The Boys outscored the Girls in the meet 281-242 so this week the bragging
rights go to the Boys.
This week is yet another test against the Granite Bay Gators, who are arguably the second best team in the
league right now, with the second best record. So we need to keep in mind that along with Champs we are
also trying to go for the Dual Meet title again as well.
With Champs only 2 weeks away we need to think about our taper. This week we are cutting out all
extracurricular activities and also shaving yardage off of our sets. Also keep in mind that this week vs Granite
Bay we are expecting times that aren't our best. Your bodies are adjusting to the taper and we may be a little
sluggish against Granite Bay.
I look forward to this week, remember guys only 2 weeks left in the season, I can't believe it has gone by this
fast. See you all on deck and GO TAZ!!!!

HONORABLE TAZ
The following swimmers were caught being honorable this past week!
Abbie Curtis stayed until the end of the meet in case she was needed for the relay. Even after all swimmers
showed up, Abbie stayed and cheered on her teammates.
Cole Tilley and Will Kirk helped made sure no swimmers jumped into the restricted section of the pool. They
sat under a glaring sun and never complained. They were troopers.
Dean Brower swam an awesome legal Breaststroke race. Not only was it legal, but he swam his race alone and
didn't let his goggles slipping off his face deter him from finishing!
Curtis Seabourne wished college green swimmers next to him a good race before it started.
Sonia Chimini offered her towel to timers on shallow end of pool to dry off the wet seats.
Will Kirk wasn't feeling well at the meet but still stayed and swam the last relay. He also helped keep kids out
of the pool in the triangle so our team would not be DQd!
Jacob Rosales and James Gezi swam four laps in the Free Relay without hesitation when two swimmers in
their relay forgot to show up. Jacob also stepped up to be the alternate to complete a relay team for the
Medley Relay race!
Way to go TAZ! Keep up the great attitudes and positive sportsmanship. When you see swimmers doing
amazing things please let us know. Nomination forms are in the blue box at the information table.
Recipients please see a coach to claim your prize during practice this week! Congratulations for being caught
in the act of being honorable!

2014 CHAMPS PROGRAM / AD SPACE

We are excited to offer advertising space again this year in the TAZ Champs Program. Many TAZ families
place ads in the Champs Program to show support for their swimmer(s). The kids LOVE seeing their names
and faces in print! We welcome business ads too! So, if you own your own business this is a great place to
advertise, because the entire TAZ Team will see your ad!!
ALL ads are digital this year and must be submitted via email. We are offering two sizing options:
4 x 5 (quarter page ad) $25
7 x 10 (full page ad) $50
Heres how it works:
The TAZ Champs Program will be printed, not photocopied. That means color! Anything goes!! You can use
photos, but make sure that they are bright, clear outdoor shots.
3 Easy Steps:
1. Design ads for your children, grandchildren, siblings, friends or coaches. Ask your friends/family to
advertise also, they can even advertise their business!
2. Save your ad as a PDF or jpeg file and email it to Jennifer Scott at [email protected].
3. Place your payment in an envelope in the Scott family folder.
If you have questions or need help, please contact Jennifer Scott at [email protected]

5:00 pm, July 19, 2014 is the deadline to email your Champs Ad to Jennifer Scott!
**One TAZ Champs Program Book will be provided to each family that has swimmer(s) participating in the
Champs Meet.

CHAMPS PARADE and COSTUMES

For those swimmers attending Champs, the team will provide each swimmer with a LEGO Every TAZ
is Awesome t-shirt and LEGO Minifigure mask. If you have your own LEGO costume, please feel free

VOLUNTEER HOURS
Regular Season Hours:
A reminder that each family must complete 15 volunteer hours during the regular season in order to maintain
priority registration for the 2015 season. If you are in need of hours, there are opportunities to earn time with
the upcoming Granite Bay Meet, Champs Rally/Dinner and Ribbon Filing.
Champs Hours:
The Champs Volunteer Job Sign Up is now open. ALL families attending Champs must volunteer a minimum of
3 hours during the 3-day weekend, in addition to the required 15 hours during the regular season. Champs is a
wonderful event but it takes many volunteers to make it successful, so please go to the edhtaz.org and sign up.
To check your volunteer hours log on to the website, click My Account, My Invoices/Payment, and then Service
Hours. This season's service hours are listed first.
If you have any questions about hours or volunteer opportunities, please contact Laura Buehler at
[email protected]. Thank you.

TWO WEEK COUNTDOWN TO CHAMPS / PERSONAL GOALS

Congratulations to all swimmers who met their goal this week!! Your hard work and dedication are paying off!
Swimmers celebrated with licorice after Monday's practice. Swimmers are also setting another goal for this
week. By focusing on one aspect, swimmers are able to improve incrementally and will bring it all together at
champs! All week coaches will be working with swimmers to focus on their goal for our last dual meet with
Granite Bay.
If you haven't already picked up your new record sheet, please check your family folder. This is a great way to
help swimmers track their progress through the season. We encourage swimmers to track their times to see
how their hard work has paid off! Keep up the great work TAZ!
Here are the goals for swimmers this week. Please ask your swimmer what they will be focusing on!
