Isolated Footing Design: Forces Details

This document provides details for designing an isolated square footing to support a column with an axial load of 25 tons and moments of 5 ton-meters in both the major and minor axes. The footing is 2m x 2m x 0.5m deep. Reinforcement is designed to resist bending moments of 4.39 ton-meters and minimum steel is specified as 12mm bars at 150mm centers along the width and length. Shear is checked at critical sections and found to be safe. Two-way shear stress is calculated as 0.428 N/mm^2 which is less than the allowable 1.12 N/mm^2. Overturning is checked and the factor of safety is greater than 2.2,
