Presentation
To start our lesson, 'what is weather?'
Whenever we talk about the condition of the air, we talk about the weather.
WEATHER- is the condition of the atmosphere in a given place at a certain time.
The condition of the air is one of the elements that affect the weather.
If the sun is shining, the air is warm, and the wind is weak, it is a SUNNY
DAY.
If the sun cannot be seen, the clouds are dark, and rain is falling, then it is
RAINY DAY.
If the sun is shining, clouds are slightly dark or clear, and the air is blowing
hard, then it is a WINDY DAY.
If the sun cannot be seen and there are plenty of slightly dark clouds, but the
rain is not falling, then it is a CLOUDY DAY.
When describing the weather we always consider the presence of the sun, condition
of the clouds and the speed of the wind and the temperature of the air.
How can you tell that these will happen? Explain your answers.
Group 1: It is going to rain.
Group 2: The weather will be fine.
Group 3: There will be a storm.
Students will group themselves and will do the activity.
Weather is the condition in the atmosphere. You describe cloudiness. You describe
the air temperature. You describe the wind direction.
The sun affects the weather because it makes the air move and makes the
surroundings warm. The warm air rises and meets cooler air. When this happens the
vapor condences and forms tiny water droplets suspended in the air as clouds. The
droplets collect and join together. When they are heavy enough, they fall as rain
which then cools our sorroundings.
