Background/Literature Review:
In this project a smart home system is provided for improving the security and automation
of devices at home. Sensors like temperature, gas, Infra Red, and vibration are installed at
various suitable points in the home for monitoring temperature, gas leakage, movement of
objects, and vibrations on doors or windows respectively. A buzzer rings to alert when any
of the sensor values cross the normal value. Also a message about the same is sent to the
owners mobile through PC for controlling the devices. Two control methods are provided
here: - Automatic and Manual. In automatic, the devices are controlled automatically by
the system itself without any user intervention. In manual mode, owner controls the
devices by sending a message from their mobile to the PC. Along with this, earth quake
detection, alert to person inside house about a pre earth quake warning and post earth
quake damage notification is also implemented. This is achieved using strain gauge sensor
and MEMS accelerometer.

Abstract:
In the existing system, door control, temperature monitoring, gas leakage detection and
moving object monitoring everything were implemented separately. In this project a
smart home system is provided for improving the security and automation of devices at
home. Sensors like temperature, gas, Infra Red, and vibration are installed at various
suitable points in the home for monitoring temperature, gas leakage, movement of
objects, and vibrations on doors or windows respectively. A buzzer rings to alert when
any of the sensor values cross the normal value. Also a message about the same is sent
to the owners mobile through PC for controlling the devices. Two control methods are
provided here: - Automatic and Manual. In automatic, the devices are controlled
automatically by the system itself without any user intervention. In manual mode,
owner controls the devices by sending a message from their mobile to the PC. Along
with this, earth quake detection; alert to person inside house about a pre earth quake
warning and post earth quake damage notification is also implemented. This is
achieved using strain gauge sensor and MEMS sensor.
