GasProp Info

Compositional Gas Properties Spreadsheet

Proprietary; Copyright Amoco Corporation 1995
Spreadsheet Description
Estimates gas Z factor, viscosity, and volume factor for given gas composition (including C7+ mole wt. and
density) and conditions are known. Replaces Technical Computing GASPROPN program.
Does not detect dew points or guarantee that the fluid is actually single-phase gas.
For more information or assistance, contact:
Dave F. Bergman, Amoco EPTG-Tulsa, socon 422-3288
Randy W. Morris, Amoco EPTG-Tulsa, socon 422-3876
Spreadsheet Functions
WellHeadPsia(TempDegF, PresPsia, SurTempF, TotVD, Composition, C7plusMolWt, C7plusDensGmCc)
calculate pressure change as you move up a dry gas well under non-flowing conditions.
HallYarbGasZ( TempDegF, PresPsia, Composition, C7plusMolWt, C7plusDensGmCc )
calculates gas Z factor at actual T and P using Hall-Yarborough equations fit to generalized Z chart
ThodosGasVisc( TempDegF, PresPsia, Composition, C7plusMolWt, C7plusDensGmCC, GasZ )
calculates gas viscosity in centipoise using Thodos correlation and input Z factor
GasFVF( TempDegF, PresPsia, GasZ )
calculates gas formation volume factor in bbl/MMcf using input Z factor
GasGravity(Composition, C7plusMolWt)
calcuate gas gravity(mole weight) from input composition
The functions display a message box and return an Excel error value (e.g. '#VALUE!' ) if the input values are not
numeric, the composition is not appropriate, or other errors occur.
Other Info
In the GASPROPN program on TC, critical properties were input for heavy ends fractions, and multiple fractions
could be specified.
In this spreadsheet, critical properties are estimated internally using the input C7+ properties; only one C7+
fraction can be specified.
Spreadsheet Modifications
Version: 1.0 Date: 95/11/29 By: W. L. Barnard
Description: original - added compositional capability to GASPROP spreadsheet
Modified:
Added new function that calculates pressure gradient from gas density calculated using zfactors

Version 1.1 Date 97/01/28 By Bergman and Morris

Modified formatting of calculations to hide values at negative depths.
