Broad Band Circuits

A network management center has been established in Multan, Pakistan to manage DXX corporate circuits in PTCL's MTR region. The center is responsible for handling customer complaints and overseeing DXX nodes across the region. PTCL uses Loop Telecom's Loop-AM3440 access multiplexer as its DXX node, and the nodes are managed by Loop Telecom's INMS network management system. The Loop-AM3440 aggregates various digital access interfaces over copper wire or E1/T1 transport facilities into E1 or T1 lines for transmission. It supports remote management through Ethernet, Telnet, and SNMP.

2.1 DXX Network Management in PTCL MTR

To manage DXX Corporate Circuits in MTR a network management center has been established
in central exchange,Multanin spite of NOC.The said network management center is responsible
for handling customer complaints and managing the DXX nodes region-wide.Different telecom
vendors provide access multiplexers that can be used as DXX nodes.

PTCL is using LOOP Telecoms Access Multiplexer Loop-AM3440 as DXX node. The services and
operations of the network of these Access Multiplexers is managed by the network
management system INMSprovided by LOOP Telecom.Inspire of the cluster of Loop-AM3440
there are Alcatel Mainstreet 3600 DXX nodes deployed at some stations.

2.2 Loop-AM3440:
The Loop-AM3440-A is a large access DCS-MUX that combines various digital access interfaces
into E1or T1 lines for convenient transport and switching. This device provides access for a
variety of TDM, IP, and voice interfaces that are compatible with a variety of other Loop
products. Using these products, a DTE interface can be extended over copper wire pairs or any
E1/T1 transport facility. Each Quad E1/T1 plug-in card can have as many as DS0 124/96 time
slots from G.SHDSL, RS232, X.21, V.35, V.36 and EIA530 / RS449 interfaces, which can be
multiplexed to fill 4 E1/T1 lines. The AM3440 also supports fiber optical plug-in cards, which can
be used to aggregate up to 4 E1 channels onto a single fiber optical interface to connect with
other AM3440 devices or with the O9310-E1. With a number of plug-in slots in single slot size
and mini size, this unit can be fully configured to any user's needs.
The AM3440-A is a full cross-connect and can act as a mini DACS; one or more of the WAN ports
can be used as a Drop & Insert function with fractional E1/T1 lines, which can be muxed into a
full
E1/T1
line.
The AM3440 supports local control and diagnostics by using an external 2-line by 40-character
LCD display and keypads, or by using a VT-100 terminal connected to the console port. The
AM3440 also supports Ethernet, Telnet, and SNMP so that it can be controlled and diagnosed
from remote locations. An in-band management channel with GUI is available. In addition to
