RC Plane Design Report

We chose to design our model using a simple dihedral wing shape based on the commonly used Clark Y design. The wing was first designed without an airfoil profile and then a balsa skeleton and choroplast sheet were added to achieve the desired shape. The tail plane datum line was set at 0 degrees incidence. The dihedral wing was chosen to increase glide time with less battery usage. It has a high wing design for ease of flight as a trainer. The electric motor can carry a payload of 1.5 kg. The complete specifications of the UAV include a wing span of 110cm, wing area of 2200cm^2, horizontal stabilizer of 990cm^2, and a center of gravity of 55

Rc Plane Design Report

We choose the simple dihedral model to design in our model and machine
it accordingly. The most commonly used and most easy to build is the Clark
Y model and hence we adapt the same for construction.
The simple dihedral shaped wing is first designed without the development
of aerofoil around it, to fit into design and the C.G is checked. Then the
aerofoil is built over it by simply adding the balsa blanks in along the wing
bone and the choro sheet is wrapped around it to achieve the shape

desired. We choose the centerline of the tail plane as the datum line as this
is normally set as 00 incidences.

Wing design Explanation

We used Dihedral wing, which helps to increase the gliding time
with less battery charge.
Our wing is designed as High wing, because its easy to fly for
trainer.
We used electric motor, which has the capability to carry 1.5 kg.
