Our production company is called take on productions, the
task we have been set is to make a horror/thriller. The genre we have decided to base our film on is a horror. We are going to carry out different types of research to ensure that we have made a film that also matches the conventions of a stereotypical horror. The film consists of a boy who was in detention and has just finished his time in detention, he walks out of detention and he is constantly hearing noises and when he turns around nobody is there. As he keeps hearing noises he keeps hearing noises and again nobody is there, there is then a build up of tension and a range of different shots a long with sound effects that is gradually building up to a climax. The boys facial expressions then portray an idea of paranoia; he then turns around a third time and then he gets hit with a weapon and he is then in apparent distress and you hearing the noise of a gun sounding and it moves on to the rest of the film and the initial sequence blanks out, and the scene is set. The target audience is predominantly people between the ages of 15-35 We have also made the film so it appeals to both genders. Although this genre and sub are usually more suiting to males, females may also enjoy it, due to the sense of mystery and tension within it. The film is also fitting for a wide range of people, across all religions and beliefs, in regards to interests people that are comedy or romance enthusiast may not necessarily enjoy it. People that enjoy watching thriller, horror and action adventure would enjoy watching this as they are relatively similar in their conventions. We want people to react positively to our product; we want people to see how we have followed the conventions of a horror but also seen that we have followed them extensively and made it interesting. We also want them to see how we made it unique in our own way rather than following the guidelines of the horror/thriller. When receiving the feedback from the audience we want to see that there has been some sort of recognition in regards to what messages we have incorporated in the text. We will ensure that the audience likes the film as we are going to release information strategically, release information slowly; keeping the audience hooked and keep them asking questions as to what is going to happen next, we also want to ensure that there is always some sense of action, again keeping the audience hooked and we figured that it would be amongst the audiences preferences to see action within the film. We have made our film suitable for the mass audiences, and we chose to do this rather than niche as we wanted the audience to be larger to ensure there were more people understanding the message we were trying to portray throughout the film. We have carried out pre production questionnaires to find out what the audience will expect to see from our production and how they want us to follow the conventional guidelines. We also used the research to help us decide on our target audience and we found out that people in the age region of 15-35 was.

generally the audience that preferred to watch this, but we
also found out that generally the younger you were the more popular this horror film would have been. Probably due to the fact that the characters in this film were teenagers and the younger audience felt that they could relate to them more than the older audience could. Context: The product will be viewable on many different forms of media, on the 31st October 2014 the film will be released in the cinema, and then after a few months when its no longer available to watch in cinemas it will be viewable on sky movies sky movies being a channel that is popular with the age group that we have aimed the product at. We will then be able to air it on more main stream channels such as ITV1/ITV2 these two channels being again relatively popular with the age group we have aimed our product at. We will try and make people aware of our product through magazines and through the internet; the film itself will be advertised on the internet through social media, facebook, twitter etc and the movie trailer will be viewable on YouTube, again making the people aware of it and giving them a taster as to what its about. Media language: The film will be a horror, so to ensure it fits the generic conventions we will use dark lighting. The effect of this will be to create a constant feeling of suspense and danger throughout. The dark lighting also makes it more realistic and the setting will also give it that sense of realism as its in a place thats isolated from other people. The cinematography within the two minute will show that the protagonist is in some degree of distress after reading the text message. There will be many different shots put together such as close up to show facial expressions and also mid and long shots to highlight body language and to show how quickly shes walking to give the audience an idea as to how shes feeling.
Within the two minute extract we make the large majority of
the sound will be non diegetic, meaning that the audience will be able to hear it but the characters cant. The sound used will be music over the film to build tension, it will initially start slowly and gradually build in speed signaling the fact the climax of this particular extract is soon coming and somethings about to happen. The diegetic sounds that will be used would be footsteps, doors/garages creaking and a gun shot. Asynchronous sound will be used in the extract, an example of it being used is when the protagonist hears that she has a message from the ringtone, she then reads it and instantly her mood changes and the mood of the extract changes and tension starts to build. Our production company is called take one productions; we will
make people aware of our production company through magazines/newspaper and on the internet through social media, to ensure that we can acquire the largest possible audience by making them aware of our company. Representation: The representation of our characters will be represented as countertypes in the sense that the protagonist will be a boy and he will be presented as the vulnerable character and have many inabilities to defend himself but generally a better person. In comparison to the antagonist who is a female and portrayed as physically able, but we see a dark and twisted character when we see her. Genre: The genre we have chosen for our film is horror, most of the aspects of the film fit the generic conventions of a horror, for example when the protagonist has been abducted the setting is dark, and adds a sense of mystery and danger to it. Also the music used is slow and gradually speeds up to show theres danger on the horizon. Its also conventional in the sense that theres a state of equilibrium and then that is disrupted and then theres disequilibrium, and theres a theme of binary opposites where theres good vs. bad and boy vs. girl which is a theme across a lot of horror movies.
