SECTION C - Comprehension
When I sit back and recall my first-day experience in a secondary school, I
often laugh at myself. I reached school early that day and was excited to see new

faces and be in a totally different environment.

Many parents accompanied their

children who looked smart in their new uniforms.

I was looking forward to seeing my former classmates but I did not see
any of them. We, the form one students were told to go to the school hall to listen to
a speech by the principal.
Later, all the form teachers took their students to their respective classrooms.
My
teacher started to call out our names. When my name was not called, I
quickly approached her. She went over the list again and informed me that my
name was not on it. That puzzled me. I was then told to check with the office.
After much searching, I finally located the office and met the school clerk. I
told her about my problem and she did some checking.

Finally, she told me

that I was not registered there. Then I realized that in my excitement, I had gone to
the wrong school!
Upon reaching the other school, I spotted some of my former classmates.
When I told them what had happened, we had a good laugh. Although it was
hilarious, it taught me to be more careful in future.

That every plate we break was cracked
By Mr. Nobody.

He pulls the buttons from our shirts,
And scatters pins afar;
That squeaking door will always squeak,
For prithee, dont you see,
We leave the oiling to be done
By Mr. Nobody.
The finger marks upon the door
