HEMPINOL HB 10270
Description:
HEMPINOL HB 10270 is a physically drying, bituminous, high-build coating. It

is flexible, water resistant and rust preventing. It retains its flexibility at low
temperatures.
Recommended use:
As an economical protection of interior and exterior steel work and concrete in

moderately corrosive environment and not exposed to direct sunlight.
Not resistant to continuous mechanical stress or to oil-polluted water. Well
suited for subsoil protection of concrete and steel.

Saudi Aramco approved product under APCS-10 and 23.

SURFACE
PREPARATION:
New Steel:
Abrasive blasting to minimum ISO Standard Sa 2 (ISO 8501-1:1988). For
temporary protection, if required, use suitable shopprimer. All damage of
shopprimer and contamination from storage and fabrication should be
thoroughly cleaned prior to final painting. For repair and touch-up, use HEMPINOL
HB 10270.
Concrete:
The concrete should be completely dry. Remove laitance, dirt, grease, oil and
other foreign matter. Cracks and holes should be filled with HEMPELS EPOXY
FILLER 35230 or any suitable repair materials.
APPLICATION:
As dictated by normal, good painting practice. In confined spaces, provide

adequate ventilation during application and drying.

No maximum recoat inter val, but after prolonged exposure to polluted

environment, remove accumulated contamination by fresh water hosing and
allow t dry. May be specified in another film thickness than indicated, depending
on purpose and area of use. This will alter spreading rate and may influence
drying time and recoat interval.
Figures quoted on this data sheet are theoretical. The practical/actual spreading
rate (PSR) of the product varies with method of application, skill of painter,
shape and texture of the substrate to be painted, film thickness applied and
working conditions. It is not therefore possible for HEMPEL to quote a universally
valid figure for PSR of the product.
