Introduction:
We are using IT for organizing IS, IT is driven from IS. Online shopping is not only IT
but also IT+ICT (Internet and Communication Technology).
Data (numbers or letters)>>> information (meaningful data) >> Knowledge (How to
use these information).
What is Informational System?
System is define as the collection of related components/objects to achieve specific
goals.
Management MIS >> leaders can be managers but not all managers can be leaders.
What kind of information are needed to run the organization?

In this unit we will talk about the following:
1- Types of a System.
2- Elements (component) of a System.
3- Characteristics of a System.
We will start with >>>
Types of a system
1- Physical/ Abstract System:
Physical system is that system that has sth we can touch like (hardware),
whereas abstract system is a system that has sth we cannot touch like (software).
Any system must has physical and abstract components.
2- Open/ Close System:
Open system which is interacting with the outside environment, whereas, the
close system is a system which unable to interact with the outside environment.
3- Formal / Informal System:
Formal which follow rules , informal which is not following rules.
4- Deterministic / Probabilistic System:
Deterministic system is the system that its outcomes are certain. The
Probabilistic System is the system that its outcomes are unpredictable.
5- Dependent / independent System:

Elements of a System:
1- Inputs.
2- Processes.
3- Outputs.
4- Feedback.
5- Boundaries (limitations).
6- Environment.


The system's elements allow us to test the function of a system.
The feedback allow us to assist how is the work :: active or not,,,
The environment can be positive or negative environment.


Characteristics of a System:
1- Having Objectives.
2- Organization (arrangement).
3- Co-ordination.
4- Interaction.
5- Integration.

New Definition of Informational System:
Man-Machine combination that provide information support to operational,
managerial, and decision-making functions of an organization.
