West End Show Success Sunday 19th April
It was a fantastic Show at Her Majestys Theatre in the West End of London last Sun-
day for those 8-17s who chose to be involved. For many of the youngsters this was
their first time in London and there were tears at the end of the day from some as they
had enjoyed it so much they didnt want to leave! They met youngsters from all over
the country who were also performing. A new pop group called Hola performed a
mini-rock concert before rehearsals began onstage - the crowd of youngsters went wild
in the stalls. It was then it was time for HF youngsters to go up to the stage where they
gave a fantastic performance from Mamma Mia! and Grease and the crowd really
warmed to the heartfelt numbers. It was definitely an amazing, heart-stopping day that
no-one who was involved will forget. We will be able to offer this opportunity EVERY
year so watch this space for more details.

your child at home before attending the show. Please ensure hair is sprayed, tied and clipped SE-
CURLY away from the face for the show in any style (unless we specifically request a particular style
for your child in term time).
This year the 4 to 17s groups will be taking Musical Theatre Examinations.
Youngsters will never take the same exam twice. A written report will be given with an indi-
vidually named certificate and a group will be awarded- Fail, Pass, Merit or Distinction (no
groups have ever failed with us!) in September. They will perform a drama, dance, singing
piece within their usual class group of 15-20 minutes each (strict time limit).
In all instances the examiner sits at a central table within the audience. This means that young-
sters feel as though they are performing without the scrutiny of an examiner in their view. The 4 to 7s will most likely not be
aware of the examiners presence. Trinity Guildhall College London is a government accredited and QCA approved exami-
nation board (one of the largest of its kind in the country). These exams help pupils and parents to benchmark the perform-
ance levels of their youngsters combined with the standards of the Hampstead Factory teaching. Any exams of this kind help
youngsters to work towards a set standard and results are useful when applying for colleges/universities or any other form of
higher education, as government accredited/QCA results are taken into consideration on UCAS forms.
The presentation for each group will consist of a set piece in drama, one in dance, one in singing. Trinity requirements for
each exam are specific in pupil numbers and time limits and so presenting a complete musical from start to finish is not pos-
sible (this happens in the autumn term). Candidates will be examined as a group (not individually). Each groups award will
be listed as soon as we receive it on our website
(www.thehampsteadfactory.co.uk) and in the autumn Hampstead
Factory newsletter in September. Each student will receive their
Trinity certificate (individually named) with a written report from
their drama teacher on the first day back in the autumn term.
private/shared Trinity Musical Theatre pupils are examined on
the same day as the groups.
Full Trinity reports from the examiner can be viewed
online usually a fortnight after the show and hard copies
will be given out along with certificates in the first two
weeks of the Autumn 09 term.

Agency Successes
We have continued our partnership with the studio in Gloucester, which is used to record
voices for many Nikelodeon shows. Well done to Charlie and Georgia Povey with their
continuing success with their Nikelodeon voice over work shown on Nick Junior.
Congratulations also to Annabelle Price who performed in 'Captain Blackboot and the
Wallumgrumba' at the King Theatre in Gloucester and to Ashleigh James who audition for Clash a new
CBBC show!
Hampstead Factory Birthday Parties
Would you like a "themed" birthday party at Hampstead Factory?
Learn a cool street dance routine, perform a mini musical of High School Musical or learn a drama script?
All parties can end in a performance for parents. The newest party around! From as little as 85.00. Please
see our website for more information or call Laura on 01242 234664.
Private Lessons
As well as group lessons in drama, dance, singing The Hampstead Factory offers private or shared
lessons. Private lessons can be taken in drama, dance, singing or a combination of all three; musical thea-
tre. Taking private tuition in any of the above skills can lead to examinations in Trinity Guildhall or LAMDA
and to other opportunities such as performing at the Cheltenham Festival. Grade 6, 7 and 8 Trinity Guild-
hall examinations are recognised by UCAS and points from 20 to 60 are awarded depending on the
level of achievement gained. Please see our website for more information or call Laura on 01242 234664.
