you are going to make a copy of them on the
computer to show you just how easy it is.
But first... let's see how much you remember

What we will be learning today:
1. HOW to create a chart in Excel.
2. What the important parts of a chart are.
3. Why these parts are important to reading and
understanding charts.
How the lesson will be structured:
We will do an example chart with me leading
you through the stages. You will then move
on to make a copy of the chart you made on
In the top left corner is a table of data.
This is what we will be using for our example.

Total Goals Scored Over A Season For Scottish
Football Teams
So here is our finished chart.
Do you see how much clearer it is?
- Why is it clearer.
- How many goals did Arbroath score over the season?
And now it's your turn. Use all the instructions in sheets 1 to 7 if you need help.
I've made up a table for you to make things a bit easier, but you will need to
work out what to name the chart and how to make it.
Use the charts you made last time as an example of what to do. You will also
have to get the numbers for each category from your chart - (Now you'll see
how good your chart was - can you read your own numbers?)

SUPER CHALLENGE SHEET!
If you are happy with your results why not try creating
different types of chart and seeing which one is the most
effective. USUALLY the most simple is the best, but you
may disagree. If you make one up, call Mrs Morton over
and she will show you how to compare graphs side by
side.
