DESIGN DEPARTMENT

Design:
Design interns work closely with the Exhibition and Graphic Designers on
the various aspects of the creation and production of exhibition design.
Projects may include but are not limited to: designing print materials,
gallery text, building signage, and assisting with exhibition layout. Ideal
candidates are experienced in InDesign and must have working knowledge
of Mac OSX software and Adobe Creative Suite. The application packet
for this position must include a portfolio.

Membership:
Membership interns work closely with the Development staff to help secure
financial support to ensure the future of the Frist Center through
membership. Interns assist in the implementation of member programs and
events, research, organization of member communication, and the
coordination of promotional materials.

EXHIBITIONS DEPARTMENT

Curatorial:
Art History Majors only may apply. Curatorial interns work closely with
Frist Center Curators on a number of projects related to in-depth exhibition
research. Ideal candidates must possess strong research and writing skills.
The application packet for this position must include a writing sample, and
a list of completed related coursework to be considered.

Editorial:
Only Art History Majors or English Majors may apply. Editorial interns
work, under the guidance of the Frist Centers Editor, on projects from
departments across the Frist Center. Projects may include but are not
limited to: institutional documents, exhibition content, event invitations,
newsletters and program guides, and educational materials. Ideal
applicants must be detail-oriented, highly organized, and possess the
ability to manage multiple projects. The application packet for this position
must include a writing sample of no more than 5 pages and a list of
completed related coursework to be considered. Selected applicants may
be given a proofreading task and/or interview.
EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

Education Design:
Education Design interns work closely with Education staff and Graphic
Designers on the various aspects of the creation and production of
educational materials and publications. Ideal candidates are experienced
in InDesign and must have working knowledge of Mac OSX software and
Adobe Creative Suite.

Community Engagement:
Outreach interns work closely with the Community Engagement Team on
various programs that engage specific populations in the Nashville
community both on- and off-site. Projects include but are not limited to:
Exhibition and activities research, sustaining the Art Trunk and multiple visit
programs, developing community art exhibitions, supporting events, and
the evaluation of programs. This position requires schedule flexibility as
well as the ability to work closely with diverse audiences.

Students are responsible for making arrangements for course credit through their
university or college internship supervisor. The Frist Center will provide documentation of
interns hours and will complete intern evaluation forms provided by the university.

internship opportunities at the Frist Center are unpaid and will not seek financial
compensation for my internship services. If my application is accepted, I agree to conform
to the rules and regulations of the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, and I also agree that my
internship can be terminated at any time.

Application Process:
To be considered for an internship, you must submit a packet containing all of the
following:
A cover letter explaining why you would like to participate in the Internship Program
at the Frist Center, and how it fits into your long-term career goals.
A letter of faculty recommendation
A completed Intern Application Form
The Frist Center will not accept any digital application packets but only those sent via
regular mail at the below address. You will be immediately notified by email when your
application packet has arrived.
