In this exercise you are going to create a BEx Query using the Query Designer. You will also
learn to Create a Query, Change a Query, add drilldown in the Query, add global filter to a Query
and Publish a query in Web.

a) Launch the Query esigner, through the !ath "usiness #x!lorer Query esigner
b) $ro% the &'ew Query( icon, choose the Info!ro)ider *+,C*-, on which the query
needs to be designed.

Characteristics +ection and istribution Channel, +old3to3Party, i)ision, +ales
4rgani5ation to the 6ows +ection. In the Colu%ns +ection add the 7ey $igure &+ales

d) +a)e the Query with the technical na%e 9,*+,C*-,Q,16:your group
number;,***- and descri!tion as +ales 8olu%e Query 16:your group number; by
the &+a)e Query( icon.
e) #xecute the Query fro% the "#x analy5er, through the !ath "usiness #x!lorer

Queries. +earch your query by gi)ing the technical na%e. 4nce the query is located,
+elect the query and clic< on 47. 4nce it is o!en clic< on =044L+> and then =#I0

Step 3: Adding drill-down to a Query
a) 0he query results is shown on the excel s!readsheet in "#x .naly5er as !er the

b) +elect the cell %ar<ed &/aterial( in the query results area and right3clic< to )iew the
context %enu.
c) $ro% the context %enu select &.dd rilldown .ccording to( and choose &istribution
Channel(.
d) 0he query refreshes to gi)e the results. /ar< the results to see the istribution
Channel is added to the Query 6esults.

&Quit( icon Afirst fro% left) and execute the query in the "#x .naly5er.
f) 0he query result is now filtered for the +ales 4rgani5ation equal to -***.
g) 'ow you can find one row inserted abo)e the Query 6esults area with +ales
4rgani5ation equal to -*** as a global filter for this query.
