STRUCTURAL ANALYSIS LABORATORY: EXPERIMENTS LIST

Experiment No. 1: To verify Maxwell-Betts Law.
Apparatus: Aluminum beam with graduation, knife edge supports, dial gauge, magnetic base
stands and weights.

Experiment No. 2: To determine the flexural rigidity of the beam verify it theoretically.
Apparatus: M.S. beam with graduation, knife edge supports, dial gauge, magnetic base stands
and weights, Vernier Caliper.

Experiment No. 3: To determine the deflection of a pin jointed truss and to verify the results
theoretically and graphically.
Apparatus: Truss apparatus, weights, hanger, dial gauge, scale and Vernier Caliper.

Experiment No. 4: To verify strain in an externally loaded beam with the help of a strain
gauge indicator and to verify theoretically.
Apparatus: Strain gauge Indicator, weights, hanger, scale, verniar caliper.

Experiment No. 5: To study behavior of different types of columns and find Eulers buckling
load for each case.
Apparatus: - Column Buckling Apparatus, Weights, Hanger, Dial Gauge, Scale, Verniar caliper.

Experiment No. 6: To study two hinged arch for the horizontal displacement of the roller
end for a given system of loading and to compare the same with those obtained analytically.
Apparatus: Two Hinged Arch Apparatus, Weights, Hanger, Dial Gauge, Scale, Verniar
Caliper.

Experiment No. 7: To study the behavior of a portal frame under different end conditions.
Apparatus: - Portal Frame Apparatus, Weights, Hanger, Dial Gauge, Scale, Verniar
caliper.

Experiment No. 8: To find the value of flexural rigidity (EI) for a given beam and compare it
with theoretical value.
Apparatus: - Elastic Properties of deflected beam, weights, hanger, dial gauge, scale,and
Verniar caliper.

Experiment No. 9: To determine the deflection of a pin connected truss analytically &
graphically and verify the same experimentally.
Apparatus: - Truss Apparatus, Weights, Hanger, Dial Gauge, Scale, Verniar caliper.

Experiment No. 10: To verify the Muller Breslau theorem by using Beggs deformator set.
Apparatus: Muller Breslau Principal Beggs Deformeter, Micrometer , Microscope,
Functioning plugs, Influence line ordinates, Drawing board, Pins etc.

Experiment No. 11: To verify clerk Maxwells reciprocal theorem.
Apparatus: Clerk Maxwells Reciprocal Theorem apparatus, Weights, Hanger, Dial
Gauge, Scale, Verniar caliper.

Experiment No. 12: To determine material fringe value by using diffused light research
polariscope.
Apparatus: Diffused light research polariscope, photo elastic model.

Experiment No. 13: To verify the moment area theorem regarding the slopes and deflections
of the beam.
Apparatus: Moment of area theorem apparatus.

Experiment No. 14: To determine the moment required to produce a given rotation
(rotational stiffness) at one end of the beam when the other end is pinned.
