Reconciled Technical Inventory and Resource Management: For Telecommunication Service Providers
NETvisor has years of experience implementing technical inventory and resource management systems for telecommunications providers using solutions from market leaders and their own developments. This includes experience with the Telcordia Granite system, which allows for multi-layer modeling and management of complex networks, easy integration with other OSS systems, and management of network inventory down to the port and channel levels. NETvisor has also developed a NETSync application framework to automate inventory management through reconciliation and discovery of network devices and circuits.

Reconciled Technical Inventory and Resource Management
For Telecommunication Service Providers
Efficient implementation of the operation support systems of telecommunications service providers depends on technical inventory and resource management systems - and NETvisor has years of experience and excellent references with these very systems. As with our other offerings, we provide these solutions based on the products of market-leading suppliers, as well as our own developments. This is how our collaboration with Telcordia (or its legal predecessor Granite) began over a decade ago. Telcordia's Granite system includes the following key features: The Granite system is suitable for multi-layer modelling and management of complex telecommunications networks built up of multiple suppliers' products and integrating various technologies. Granite is an open platform easily and effectively integrated with other OSS or NMS/EMS systems of telecommunications service providers. Management of the network's current inventory and resources is possible all the way down to the port and communications channel level. The system is capable of graphically representing existing circuit paths and easily creating new ones based on prepared templates. This process can significantly reduce the complexity of the tasks related to creating and managing circuit paths, and consequently the costs of executing the given tasks. The Granite system unique object modelling method supports the management of any fixed line and mobile technology, including Frame Relay, ATM, IP and SDH.
Network modelling and integration tasks
With Granite, modelling a service-providing technology network can be done easily and cost-effectively. The resulting data model can then receive devices and circuits manually through the client interface. NETvisor has developed an R&D (reconciliation and discovery) application framework to support Granite in automating the inventory management of any network technology. This framework is NETvisor's NETSync, which overcomes the main drawback of legacy inventory management systems - data entry - where validation can only be done manually and there is no feedback from the network to confirm the validity of the data.
The Reconciliation and Discovery applications must implement two basic functions: Reconciliation provides for the synchronization of the existing device, card and circuit data of the inventory management system with the data in the NMS system. The reconciliation application's specially designed GUI displays any discrepancies hierarchically to the system operators in a clear and structured form. The Discovery function automatically adds devices, cards and circuits missing from the inventory management system and provides the alert appropriate to the object involved. The operation of the interface is, of course, influenced by the status of the objects in the inventory management system (e.g. planned / ordered / test phase / live operation).
Workflow integration and service modelling
Modern technical inventory and resource management systems can model not only network technologies but also specific services. With NETvisor's modelling methodology, the NorthBound Interface (servicing higher level management systems) of the technical inventory and resource management system enables the integration of the system and its services into the telecommunications service provider's own design processes. As a result, the technical parameters of the designed service are automatically transferred to the Workflow system, which then distributes the worksheets to execute the deployment tasks. Freed from the need for any manual intervention, this method provides for a more accurate data transfer from inventory management to work process control.
Integration management to systems
With its reliable experience and references, NETvisor can offer high quality and refined solutions to integrate technical inventory systems with trouble ticket, performance and service management systems.
