1.0 Configure VMAX Director Ports
These attributes need to be set on the VMAX target ports on which the volumes will be mapped to.
SCSI 3 = True
SPC2 Protocol Version = False
Volume Set Addressing = False

2.0 Map the Volumes to be Virtualized
Here, the volumes are being mapped to two ports: 7H1 and 8H1.

3.0 Masking
We will create two masking views, each with a VMAX target port and the corresponding VSP external port, as
well as the volumes to be virtualized.
3.1 Create Initiator Group
The initiator group holds the WWN of the VSP external ports.

3.2 Create Port Group
The port group holds the VMAX target port.

3.3 Create Storage Group
The storage group contains the volumes that will be visible to the VSP.

3.4 Create Masking View
The Masking View ties all 3 groups together: Initiator Group, Port Group, Storage Group.



We will complete the virtualization process using Storage Navigator on the VSP at this point.
