A-1 : Human resource management: The process of acquiring, training, appraising, and
compensating employees, and of attending to their labor relations, health and safety, and
fairness concerns.

A-2 : Following are the examples which explains importance of the statement.
*Hire the wrong person for the job
*Experience high turnover
*Have your people not doing their best
*Waste time with useless interviews
*Have your company take to court because of discriminatory actions
*Have your company cited under federal occupational safety laws for unsafe practices
*Have some employees think their salaries are unfair and inequitable relative to others in
the organization
A-5 : The four important issues are,

Globalization and competition: Globalization refers to the tendency of firms to

extend their sales, ownership, and/or manufacturing to new markets abroad.
Globalization refers to the tendency of firms to extend their sales, ownership, and/or
manufacturing to new markets abroad. Globalization of the world economy and other
trends has triggered changes in how companies organize, manage, and use their HR
departments. The rate of globalization continues to be high, and has several strategic
implications for firms. More globalization means more competition, and more
competition means more pressure to lower costs, make employees more productive,
and do things better and less expensively.
For example foreign car company Land rover merges with Indian company TATA
to expand their car business in India.

Indebtedness and Deregulation: In many countries, government stipends

stripped away rules and regulations. In the United States and Europe, for
example, the rules that prevented commercial banks from expanding into new
businesses, such as stock brokering, were relaxed.

Jack Nelsons Problem

A-1 : There are some problems in bank's home office and branches. These problems have
some cause. When Jack Nelson was introduced to the entire employee in the home office,
he was introduced to Ruth Johnson. Ruth Johnson working for two months but she does
not know about the machine that she was using. But she operates the machine properly.
Organization did not oriented and trained her properly. If organization trained her well
Ruth will clear about her job and responsibility. The main issue in this case is employee
turnover was high during past eight years, as a result supervisor tried to find a suitable
employee to replace the worker who had quit. We know that employee turnover is a
costly expense especially in lower paying job roles, for which the employee turnover rate
is highest. There was no standardization of recruitment process in organization. They had
also lack of communication process. Because all branch office hired employee without
communicate whit their home office.
A-2: Setting up an HR unit in the main office would help the managers. Through the HR
unit the bank can employ the educated bankers and reduce turnover ratios. I mean,
because of HR unit will work for supervisors and line managers needs, the employee
which apply the job probably educated by HR unit about the machine or computer
software does he/ she have to. As a result of HR unit, turnovers decrease and efficiency
increases in the bank.
A-3: A Line Function: The human resource manager directs the activities of the people in
his or her own department and perhaps in related areas.
A Coordinative Function: The human resource manager also coordinates personnel
activities, a duty often referred to as functional authority. Here, he or she ensures that line
managers are implementing the firms human resource policies and practices.
Staff Function: Assisting and advising line managers is the heart of the human resource
managers job. He or she advises the CEO so CEO can better understand the personnel
aspects of the companys strategic options. HR assist in hiring, training, evaluating,
rewarding, counseling, promoting and firing employees. It helps line managers comply
with equal employment and occupational safety laws and plays an important role in
handling grievances and labor relations. It carries out an innovator role, by providing upto-date information on current trends and new methods for better utilizing the companys
employees. It also plays an employee advocacy role, by representing the interests of
employees within the framework of its primary obligation to senior management.
The new technology helps companies in various areas such as communication,
advertising, marketing and competition. HRM also uses the technology to reach
canditates and communicate with them. HRM can use Internet to create and use an up-todate employee database, measure the employee abilities, contact with them, train them
and monitor them
